Tennessee opens grant for APUs aimed at small trucking carriers

Tennessee opens grant for APUs aimed at small trucking carriers
Quote:
Truckers in Tennessee now have an opportunity to apply for a grant to replace part of the cost of a truck APU, and small trucking companies will have first crack at the cash.

The state recently opened up the application process for its Idle Smart Clean Diesel Grant Program. The program, funded by an EPA grant of $1.73 million, is offered by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation and is aimed at helping “small trucking companies and independent owner-operators,” the state said.

Idle Smart grants will pay for up to 50 percent of idle-reduction technologies, and truck owners must report technology use so Tennessee can calculate fuel savings and emissions reductions per truck.
