OOIDA selected for CARB trucking panel

Say CARB to truckers, and one is likely to get an earful about the most stringent emission regulatory body in the country.

Although CARB has aggressively pursued several regulations that have proved expensive for many truckers, the agency also has responded to comments and information submitted by the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association.

An OOIDA representative was recently selected as a participant in a new advisory committee for CARB. Tom Weakley, director of operations for the OOIDA Foundation, was recently appointed to CARBs Truck Regulatory Advisory Committee, or TRAC.

CARB formed TRAC this summer, and will hold the committees first meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 1.

dont know how much it will help, but atleast we have somebody on our side on the panel.

Excellent, glad to see OOIDA posturing themselves into such a key position.

I would like to know how much pollution is generated making 10 new trucks vs. keeping a thousand older trucks on the road. I would be willing to bet those older trucks could run a hundred years, and never come close to the pollution involved with making one new truck from scratch.
