FMCSA proposes UCR fee increase

FMCSA proposes UCR fee increase

Quote:
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) today published a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to establish an increase in the fees that interstate commercial truck and bus companies, brokers, freight forwarders and leasing companies must pay under the Unified Carrier Registration (UCR) Plan for registration year 2010.

According to FMCSA, states have been unable to effectively collect the UCR revenue they are entitled to by law during the 2007-2009 registration years.

The FMCSA believes its proposed new fee levels will both encourage states to aggressively enforce the UCR fees rule and generate the necessary revenue to execute state motor carrier safety programs. Interested parties will have 15 days to comment on the proposed fees and can do so by going to www.Regulations.gov.

In other words, not everyone is paying so we're going to up the fees so the people that do pay cover the ones that don't. Now why does that sound familiar?

Should be no problem to remedy this.

Trucks cross scales. Computer tells whether company has filed the paperwork. If not, fine is issued.

Nothing to do with Obama or Pelosi.

new jersey did this a few years ago for corperate income tax if you are incorperated and pass thru nj you must pay the tax which has a $500 minimum and they had revenue agents at the scales and impounded the non payers trucks untill payed and they took no checks it had to be a wire transfer and if you were in buisness 10 years you had better have $50,000 to pay
