Projected cost of Wyoming toll road continues to climb

Projected cost of Wyoming toll road continues to climb

Quote:
CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The projected cost of a toll road on Interstate 80 continues to climb, but consultants say the project is close to being financially feasible anyway.

The project was originally estimated to cost $2.1 billion in a study by Denver-based consultant Parsons Brinkerhoff. The second phase of the study hiked the estimate to more than $3.5 billion.

And if construction occurs between 2015 and 2025, the cost could jump to $5.97 billion based on current costs, the report said.

But some $300 million could be saved by adjusting the scope of the project, speeding up construction or using a state lending program, the study said.

What a joke.

Our tax dollars paid for this road and now you will be charged plenty to use it in the future.

So does this mean that Wyoming actually exists? I've wondered, sometimes.
