MoDOT opens Route 66-themed Welcome Center on I-44 MoDOT opens Route 66-themed Welcome Center on I-44 Quote: SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The Missouri Department of Transportation has opened the new Route 66-themed Interstate 44 Conway Welcome Center at Mile Marker 111 west of Conway, Mo. The Welcome Center is located on both sides of I-44 some 30 miles east of Springfield. I stopped there on the way to Lubbock. And then spent the night on the east bound side last night. Very nicely done. They even have microwaves in there to use.
