On the subject of DOT and PA. Until the last week I have never seen such an abundance of DOT in the rest areas. In the last two days I have seen them in every rest area along I80, I84 and I81. Any idea's what been going on with this?

Also written up at the same time for "chaffing" on the light cord. It was the old style, non-coiled cord. It had rubbed the cat walk a few times during turns, and had a few marks on it. Not hurt at all.

I never gave them a hard time, was nice, took my violations without question, so additude was not a problem, and the truck was clean and well maintained. That was all they could find wrong.

When the DOT wants to write tickets and make money, they will find something. Very few, if any trucks, can pass a DOT check if someone looks hard enough, and knows what they are looking for. I can find a violation of some kind on most any truck I walk by.

If the DOT man wants to find a violation he can and will. Even a truck that just rolled outside of the factory door.

I got a speeding ticket in this piece of s#$% place back in '99...

It was around $220.00 for speeding in a construction zone... and I was travelling "with the flow" of traffic...

It's all about the money and the DOT/LEO's get excessive with this BS...

Fish that aren't in the barrel cant be shot,
STAY OUT OF REST AREAS!
Seldom is their a valid excuse to put ones self in such
a situation.
Reducing exposure(low profile) is key to avoiding interaction with the general public.

General Public and 18 Wheelers DO NOT MIX!
Avoid putting yourself in those barrels at every opportunity.

The trick is to "Beat Them" not "Feed Them"
Want to be a statistic like is described in the OP?
Pull in those "General Public Areas" and set yourself up.
Its much more labor intensive to stop a rolling truck, stopped trucks in a confined area are easy pickin's.

STAY OUT OF REST AREA'S!!
STAY OUT OF TRUCK PARKING ONLY AREA'S!!
DO NOT SLEEP ON THE SCALE HOUSE EXIT RAMP!!
DO NOT BELIEVE DOT "CAN NOT" KNOCK ON YOUR DOOR AND REQUEST AN OOS INSPECTION!!

In my comment I was not referring to any Driver, just what a driver should do to keep themselves as clean as possible!
That way the you do not give the DOT man any more reason to mess with you!

In Pennsylvania, the rest areas are also weigh stations. They have signs flashing when the trucks are to enter the scale. They are not normally used, but there when they want them.

Less than 4% when looked at individually.

Since we don't know how many were driver/equipment OOS combinations. We have to assume the overall was about 8%.

Incomplete reports, should be a violation of ethics in the news industry.

And since we don't have ALL the information. We are left to conclude that these were all serious violations.

I doubt all were serious violations. Even a brain fart, can get you placed OOS.
