10 yrs in jail at his age will never happen. I doubt some one his age would survive 10 yrs of jail.
Thats just my opinion.

can anyone digest this and make an argument that there should be NO age restrictions to sling a 40 ton rolling weapon down the hiway? 76 year old security guard where they have no real responsibility, yes. 76 year OLD grandfather/great grandfather driving an 18 wheeler who ends up murdering 10 people? HELL NO!!!!!!!![/color]

I see lots of youngsters every day that have no business being behind the wheel of a truck...But they're there. The guy that taught me to drive drove up until a week or two before he died of cancer and was a solid, good driver. He was 77 when he passed.

I don't think its as cut and dried as that. I'd rather be around some older highly experienced driver than some two year wonder that thinks he's experienced.

I agree with BullHaulersWife and Brickman on this one. He's not going to make 10 years in lock-up. Period. There is something medically wrong here. Sentence him to community service in his HOME COMMUNITY, and let it be.

The driver who taught me the most about how to handle a rig was 77 when he was teaching me to handle the truck. He took himself out of the truck a year later, due to complications from chemo. He passed less than a year later.

Well, Bonnie you know I love you and I do tend to almost always agree with you. Almost.

I'm sorry but this time.....I don't. No, I don't think he'll make 10 years in prison...but I don't think that just giving him community service is the answer. No matter his age....he is responsible for the deaths of 10 people. The law has outlines for reasons....if there is a medical reason for that accident other than negligence then his attorney will bring that forward. Otherwise...let the law be the law and let the man do the time.

Oh, I am not saying he should not have been charged. There is no way I am saying that. But looking back through all the interviews with this man, I see alot of confusion on his part. There is something wrong. If that is the case.. and remember that this my opinion... even with somethingmedically wrong they can still find him guilty... if they prove something is wrong and find him guilty... which you can have that happen in OK... I hope the judge takes the medical condition into consideration and sentences him to community service, in his home community.

I should add, that in his place, I'd feel better about myself that they did file charges. I may be warped, but if they didn't I'd always feel like I had "gotten away with murder"...

Trucker in deadly Oklahoma crash pleads not guilty

Trucker in deadly Oklahoma crash pleads not guilty
Quote:
MIAMI — A Missouri truck driver pleaded not guilty this morning to charges he was responsible for the deaths of 10 people in one of the state's deadliest wrecks.

Seated with family members, Donald Leroy Creed rarely looked up as he nervously clutched his white cowboy hat while waiting for Special Judge Bill Culver to call his name.

Creed, 76, of Willard, Mo., is charged in Ottawa County District Court in Miami with 10 misdemeanor counts of negligent homicide in connection with the June 26 crash. He was the driver of an Associated Wholesale Grocers Inc. tractor-trailer that rammed into six vehicles that had stopped near the Miami exit on the Will Rogers Turnpike because of an earlier wreck.

During the 10-minute hearing, Creed waived his right to a speedy trial. Culver ordered him to return to court April 6 for a misdemeanor trial docket.
