BREAKING NEWS: Highway spending extension on hold

WASHINGTON — A planned vote on House Transportation and Infrastructure Chairman Jim Oberstar’s three-month extension of the current transportation program was taken off of the morning’s consideration of suspension bills in the House — a procedure calling for a two-thirds approval after limited debate.

Transportation committee spokesman Jim Berard told The Trucker that the Senate — which is considering an Obama administration-supported 18-month extension — would oppose the House plan.
