Great Dane to lay off 67 from Arkansas plant

JONESBORO, Ark. — Great Dane Trailers is announcing the temporary shut down of its plant in Jonesboro and the layoff of 67 employees.

Company officials say the moves are because of a continued drop in trailer orders — but that they hope to eventually bring the employees back to work.

The layoffs are to begin Oct. 15.

The Jonesboro plant produces dry-freight van trailers, which the company says is the segment of the truck trailer business hardest hit during the recession.
