Louisiana troopers to enforce law limiting left-lane use Oct. 1

Louisiana troopers to enforce law limiting left-lane use Oct. 1
Quote:
The Louisiana State Police will start issuing tickets Thursday, Oct. 1, for holding up traffic by lingering in the left lane.

Many local police departments have been writing tickets since the law took effect Aug. 15. The State Police and some other police departments opted to hold off on ticketing offenders until Thursday. Troopers who have spotted infractions during the past six weeks have issued warnings instead of writing tickets.

Col. Michael Edmonson said it is part of the patrol’s duty to provide public education of the left-lane rule.

What they don't understand, is that when a truck is hung out in the left lane, it's usually because the jerk in the right lane hangs up his cell phone in the middle of the pass and speeds up. Now you have two trucks that are probably both governed at 65 next to each other. Now the jerk in the right lane won't allow the pass because tapping the brakes to let the passer over will mean an extra 8 seconds before getting to the next truck stop! I run into this in Ohio all the time on I-75 running with all the maple leaf drivers that are governed at 64.7 mph.

I drive at night, and if no one is around I will ride the left lane if it is smoother than the right. When I see someone coming up behind me I will move over to the right.

I run team and want to make sure the co-driver gets a good nights sleep. I expect my co-driver to do the same for me.

Its not just in Ohio, and not just racertruck wannabe truck drivers. A lot of the idiots in 4 wheelers do the same thing!
