Commercial truck market ready for ‘steady growth’

ACT Research: commercial truck market ready for ‘steady growth’

Quote:
COLUMBUS, Ind. — Following three consecutive years of double-digit production declines, including over 40 percent declines in 2009, the medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicle markets are at the beginning of a three-year period of steady growth, according to ACT Research Co. (ACT).

In the latest release of the North American Commercial Vehicle Outlook, ACT indicates heavy-duty (Class truck production reached a low point of 25 thousand in the second quarter, down 57 percent from the prior year. ACT predicts quarterly production rates will begin a slow climb in the third quarter, although year-over-year declines will continue until the first quarter of 2010. Medium-duty truck (Classes 5-7) production, down 53 percent to 22 thousand in the second quarter, also will begin a rebound in the third quarter, but at a slower rate, largely due to continued softness in the construction industry.

“We believe the economy emerged from recession in the third quarter and expect gradual strengthening through 2010,” said Kenny Vieth, partner and senior analyst with ACT Research.

I saw a couple of O/O units at the local cheapo-used car lot yesterday.

That was a first.

Pretty nice looking rigs too.

Steady growth?

LOL!

Have you noticed if Blackhawk Peterbilt ever moved those two blue 386's parked out front yet?

That's one reason why I'd like to live in the Sturgis area....That whole shop has some decent people working there.....

Steady growth

now ive heard about growth about to start but as of yet i havent seen it, the price of good used equipment is way down you can get some good deals on a used truck ive bought two so far but you have to have the cash the credit market is still locked up tight and i no of no one that is willing to finance anything.

now i have noticed freight has increased the last couple of weeks and the rate is slowly going up at least in heavy haul but to soon to tell if its going to last.

i think we have a ways to go before it stabelises . hope we all can last that long, but we will get thru it.

best of luck to all.----southernpride
