Oakland to Ban Older Trucks Oakland to Ban Older Trucks Beginning Jan. 1, marine terminal operators to deny entry to pre-1994 trucks Quote: The Oakland Board of Harbor Commissioners is moving forward with a ban on older trucks to become effective on Jan. 1, 2010. Oakland on Oct. 20 will give the proposed ordinance a second reading as the next step toward implementation of the truck ban. The port's clean-truck program is designed to reduce harbor-generated pollution by phasing out the use of old, polluting trucks. Beginning Jan. 1, marine terminal operators will deny entry to pre-1994 trucks.
