Plan for toll booths on I-80 in Wyoming moves ahead

Plan for toll booths on I-80 in Wyoming moves ahead

Quote:

Wyoming officials are eyeing the possibility of three lanes in each direction of I-80 across the southern portion of the state.
One lane would be for trucks, and a tolling station could possibly be located between Rock Springs and Rawlins.

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — A plan to put toll booths on Interstate 80 in Wyoming is cruising forward to help pay for maintenance and widening that could reduce traffic accidents.

The Joint Interim Committee on Transportation Highways and Military Affairs voted Friday to sponsor a bill giving tolling authority to the Wyoming Department of Transportation and the highway commission.

With the authority, the department could then make a formal request to the Federal Highway Administration to set up booths on the interstate.

That translates to trucks restricted to one lane. Enjoy paying for the privilege of puttering across Wyoming at 58mph or less.

oh no, not something that I would like to see...

I understand the budget issues, and maintennce but the starting of tolls on interstate highways here would lead to making most of them toll roads (you know the government, if it works here, do it there)

Truck only means trucks only pay toll.

Seriously that is one of the ideas they are floating. That was the idea they started with. After such an uproar was raised over discrimination they've added cars to the list of tolled vehicles but at a low rate. Some thing like $4 to $6 for travelling across the state. While trucks get hit at a much higher rate. $30 to $40.

And they are not going to listen to the residents or anyone else for that matter! All they see is an oppurtunity to steal more money!
How long do you think it will be before ALL roads become toll roads??? Unbelieveable! I got to get out of this business before it completely falls apart!
Somebody please flush this toilet, it is really starting to stink up the whole country!
