Senate panel confirms Ferro to become next FMCSA administrator

Senate panel confirms Ferro to become next FMCSA administrator

Quote:
WASHINGTON — The Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee today approved and sent to the full Senate the nomination of Anne S. Ferro to be the next administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.

Her confirmation by the full Senate is expected to take place ??????.

The vote came on the same day that news broke concerning a possible settlement between the FMCSA and several safety advocacy groups over the current Hours of Service rule.

FMCSA agreed to issuing a new Notice of Proposed Rulemaking sometime within the next nine months and issuing a new Final Rule within 21 months.

In response, the suit would be held in abeyance during the time period.

In the settlement document, FMCSA did not agree to change the regulation during the rulemaking process.

Great! That's exactly what the average trucker needs! Some Washington insider who is a known coporate schill more concerned with coporate needs and greed than safety, who probably doesnt know the difference between a 5th wheel and a steering wheel, who's only experience with CMVs is the ones that she curses at cuz they are in her way when she is driving to her lush office. Yeah we need someone like that telling us how to be safe, when to go to bed, etc...

Read this about her:

Quote:
.....................Anne Ferro is presently the president of the Maryland Motor Truck Association and prior to that she served as Maryland Motor Vehicle (MMV) administrator.
When She was asked by a publication why she took the job of president and CEO of the MMTA she replied, “After spending so many years in government I wanted to learn about the private sector. And the other reason is — I love trucks,” she said.
As MMTA chief she said her priority was simple: “ … to advocate for the [trucking] industry,” adding that most people “have an opinion about [commercial] trucks — they don’t like them. We have to work to change that.”

As with all things in life, there are people who are for the nomination of Anne Ferro and those who are opposed. In general Trucking officials were supportive, safety advocacy groups were opposed.................

Who knows for sure right now. She has some big names for and against her. By looking at who is against her may mean she will do a good job.
