USA Convoy Brings Total to $93,000 Raised
Quote: Following Convoy for a Cure - USA at Willie's Place in Texas on Saturday, $93,000 has been raised for Breast Cancer Research between the four convoys that have taken place throughout the U.S. and Canada this year, an average of $1,000, according to Cindy Stowe, U.S. coordinator of the event.
While Stowe expected well over 100 trucks at the Oct. 24 event, the convoy still had a good turnout, with 31 drivers showing up and $12,400 raised so far. Stowe expects the grand total to be over $13,000 once all the funds are collected.
"Everybody had a fantastic time," Stowe said. The 31 participants lined up in their trucks at Willie's Place at Carl's Corner, and the convoy drove throughout the neighborhood.
Stowe said the event saw a great amount of support from the surrounding community. She even received an e-mail from someone in the neighborhood, saying, "You just passed my house, and it was awesome."
"Breast cancer touches the lives of everyone-whether it is a friend, family member or even a co-worker," said Stowe.
