If I were to ever go drving an 18 wheeler solo.... you can bet your butt that one of Henry's dogs would be in the passenger seat.... I would not bet on someone intent on doing harm escaping alive.

I subscribe to the "little dog/big gun" plan.
The little dog is easier to care for and manage in the truck than a larger dog, but obviously doesn't offer the protection of the larger dog.

The firearm offers maximum protection, but is of no use if I am not awake to utilize it.

This is where the two come together. The dog alerts me to the potential intruder, giving me ample time to secure my weapon and prepare for action.

Also a dog of any size will often deter a potential intruder, who not only is unaware of the dog's size as some smaller dogs have a deep bark, but assumes the truck's occupant is now awake and is no longer an easy target.

I agree with your plan completely. I do exactly the same thing. Don't be an easy target.

I agree completely Mustang. The only reason I would end up with one of Henry's is that my own little buddy had to be put to sleep back in August.

My heartfelt condolences. I lost two this year. I hate to go through the heartbreak again but went and got a 9 month old beagle from the adoption agency. Best friends already.

He came with the name Hunter. Not crazy about it, but he answers to it.
This was today playing with my daughters Husky "pup". They were the same size about a month ago.

Community where slain trucker was found has truck parking ban

Community where slain trucker was found has truck parking ban
Quote:
Police officials have released the name of the slain trucker who was found fatally shot while parked at a dirt lot in Moreno Valley, CA.

Albert Thomas, a 56-year-old driver for KLLM Transport Services, was found dead in his truck a few hours after he failed to show up at his 7 a.m. scheduled delivery time at a Moreno Valley grocery store. Police said he was shot in the back multiple times and was found in his sleeper.

Thomas, who also lived in Moreno Valley, had parked his truck at a dirt lot in Moreno Valley. Moreno Valley Police Sgt. Jamie Briones said it is common for truckers to park there “for overnight stays.”

Briones also confirmed that the city of Moreno Valley has an ordinance that prohibits truckers from parking at their residences, which could explain why he was parked at the lot where he was found.

The only thing they will do is block the lot off so you can't park there either.
