Trucker's terror as thugs hurl bricks on to motorway

Quote:
TRUCKER has told of his terror after a gang of yobs hurled bricks off a motorway bridge and on to cars and lorries.
Drivers had to swerve to avoid crashing after they came under attack from a footbridge over the M62, near Rochdale.
The windscreens of seven vehicles - including a coach - were damaged in just 10 minutes. Police said the yobs had put lives at risk.
Lorry driver John Linley-Parle said he was lucky to avoid crashing his HGV at 60mph after a brick smashed his windscreen. The dad-of-one, who was driving from Oldham to Leeds, said it was a miracle he escaped injury.
He heard a long bang and was then faced with a terrifying struggle to keep control of his cab. He said: "Somehow I managed to pull over on to the hard shoulder and couldn't believe my eyes when I started to check out the damage.
Terrifying

Those "yobs" need to be dragged over the side of that bridge and beat to within an inch of their lives.

I had this happen a few weeks back on I-72 in western IL. Two young kids were standing on an overpass and I just had a feeling what was coming so I moved over to the hammer lane just as I got to the bridge. Sure enough as I passed under a bunch of rocks and gravel dropped into the right lane where I had been. I called 911 and gave them a description of the 2 kids and heard a few days later from our safety director that they had been arrested. Hope they learned a valuable lesson and a good ### whippin from their father.

It's attempted murder, and should be treated as such.

My husband had that happen (sort of) last year atthis time in GA. But not throwing anything off a bridge, just throwing big rocks from behind a sign on the interstate. Took out his windshield and he got glass in his eyes. Kids were not caught. Let me tell you if I ever caught them...

some of our overpasses are sprouting barriers to prevent this from occouring.

sadly, it wasnt the truckers that were injured ( cant remember is any died as a result ) but only after a retired judge was killed that the action took place.

why stop at the last inch, do you think they cared if they actually killed someone with the brick they threw? I doubt it.

Ive seen where kids were on the overpass on 1-10 last year about this time of year. They were flicking people off. I felt like turning on the cab light and flicking them off but that would be plain stupid.

last month coming up I-95 in north carolina, my brother had someone throw a cinder block off an over pass. luckily he was changing lanes to pass a slower moving truck (insert swift joke here) and it missed his windshield, but bounced down the side of the truck. lots of cracked fiberglass.

This isn't scary for just truckers. Seeing kids looking down from an overpass always makes me nervous.
