I always wanted to be a pilot.
C5 biggest we have. Being replaced by C17. Large but not that large. Can land in amazingly short distance on dirt etc. Aussies flew them in here almost every day.
Russians had some larger planes in the day.

I work out by Nellis AFB,here in Vegas. We see those things flying over low(landing and taking off) along with F18's F-22's and the Thunderbirds.I can only imagine what it would be like hauling one of those down the road. They are huge when they fly over head daily.

while the C17 is smaller, it has a larger door so we were able to put larger equipment in it. They are fun to jump out off too!!

The russians have some big a/c as well. Antonov 124 ruslans and Ant 225 Myria, the six engine brother developed from the 124 to transport the space shuttle. Only 1-2 of these six engine beast remain operational.

I'm going to be at Nellis later this year. At my current job we certify all Primary AF training ranges for the safe use of lasers. I'm just a contractor but still get to see some pretty impressive shows put on. Last time they went to Nellis they surveyed the north and south ranges by heli and it took them 8 hrs to do each. This time the boss wants us to split up and drive it! I can only imagine how long thats going to take!

My family lives by Patrick Air Force base. Man is it fun to watch the air shows from the boat.

Those huge cargo planes appear to take forever to climb to higher altitudes after takeoff. We used to live a few miles away from Nellis. Couldn't stand the daily jet noise or the putrid stench from the nearby pig farm.

When I was a kid, we would spend the summers at Lewes-Rehobeth Beach area. We would always stop in Dover and park at the end of the runway and watch them beast fly right over us doing touch and go's. They would actually drag their tail taking off. Awesome sight.

The plane on trailer is fuselage for C 130 Hercules. Best workhorse the AF ever had. Much smaller than C-17 or C-5. They are the main aircraft for deliveries to most places in Afghanistan either landing or air drops to hot or rough areas. C 17 & 5 seen more around Kandahar and Bagram air fields. Also Leatherneck and a few other large bases.

Here is picture to compare C17 to much larger C5.

Get this EDAS wants to replace the C-17 and C-130 both with their A400M a plane that can not even meet its own Specs. It is to Heavy to Slow and can not even carry the Payload it is Speced to carry. Yet they want the US Goverment to replace all teh C-130's with them. They need to get a massive order for them since Germany England Heck everyone that was forced to order them thru their Goverments is going we do not want them.
