That is the case. As I was passing by, the officer WAS yelling commands and was poised to strike, but was not at that time. I don't know what transpired from that point on.
No...it wasn't directed at you...
I was responding to some of the 'one liners'...

The last few comments have accuatually been a lot more reasonable and thought out...
If they were like that in the beggining...I doubt I would have left any comment at all...

People who keep saying..'do not run or resist the cops' have obviously never faced a unreasonalble cop...

You respond to what your experience is...but to act like everyone on the planet has your same experience is very shallow...and makes them sound very uneducated....

Again...not all cops are reasonable...police and law enforcement work for the government....if working for the government makes you reasonable...than I hope you all...everyone on this thread...support whatever comes out of Washington DC...I hope you show the legistlatures the same respect and honor...that you so want to give to 'cops'...

Don't resist WA DC....cause ultimatly...they are the top cops...

That is your message....so get in line and comply and never resist any government official...even if their wrong...

If you look at the last pic. the officer is right handed (of course) but look at his stance. If he needs to strike this guy again he will be striking him on the side of his shoulder which is propped higher than his head. The fact that makes the officer look like hes striking is because that maybe, mybe he is like that because he doesnt want to hit the guy in the head. There are certain parts on the body that is considered a lethal hit, I have police training and have been in these situations, This officer was ready to strike him, if needed, on the guys shoulder side instead of chancing the head. On top of that in my exp. the smaller they are the more pissed they get and more harder to control. Plus the guy who got sprayed probably maxed out his adrenaline as well, which is harder to control. Ghostchild speak all you want and hide/defend or whatever for the guy, but Like I said only quickdodge knows the best from all of us on what happened. MN just lost a fine outstanding officer the other day because he was doing what he was hired to do, Protect and serve. He responded to a domestic and it turns out that he was shot by the male for doing his job. I have worked with and actually knew a couple of officers that have passed doing there job. I think I will stop here as I now am too emotional to continue.
Many people loose thier lives in the line of duty...not just cops...pilots, nurses, chemical plant workers, fireman, movie stunt doubles, and even truck drivers loose our lives in the line of duty...

But none of us get two mile parades when we die in our line of work...

Police aren't the only ones who help make this country function...

Really? Is that what you learned in your criminal justice class? Go ahead and think that if you wish. If you disobey any lawful order or verbal command, it will be articulated as being illegal or resisting in some way. I know because I've been serving in a law enforcement capacity for over 10 years...

From the pictures in the OP, it's impossible to tell what the actual situation was about, what happened prior to the situation, prior knowledge of the individual, etc.

And how in anyway does that have anything to do with this discussion? Maybe the other professions you mention don't have the camaraderie that the police do.. And as you pointed out, those other professions do help the country function. But being constantly placed in a violent atmosphere is generally not part of their jobs. Do their jobs present personal risk? Sure they do. But those are calculated risks.

Face it. You have not said a good thing about police in any of your soap box rants. Your disdain for police is obvious.

I will admit, there are some bad cops out there, as there are bad people in any profession. But there are also many good ones too.

It would be like me saying that all theatrical truckers that take artful pictures in their sleeper are bad..

I personally know all of them in my county. They wave at me, want to know where I went each trip.

I know they watch the house when I am away.

As far as on the road, I must be lucky, I have yet to meet a bad one.

Yes, if it's a lawful order...and the cop has a reason to stop or detain you other than the fact he doesnt like your hairstyle or shoes...

Very rarely do cops initiate contact on their own...I'd say 95% of the time their responding to a call...
And if you meet the description of the 'suspicious' person or 'suspect'...than ye...they do have the right to temporarly detain you for further questioning...

But if you see the police...and just start running away...that in and of itself doesnt warrant being chased and beat down. Maybe in Iraq or Cuba...but not here...

Not all of them know me.

My last statement is that I have never met a bad one yet in 10 years of commercial driving.
