The day OTR drivers all agree and go on strike, I will print this thread and EAT IT in front of however many guys are parked at the local T/A.

Been hearing this same thing since the 1980's, and will be hearing it STILL in 2020.
    Never gonna happen.

You know what? Your right. If every active trucker on this site was to call off sick just one or two days they would see what kind of affect it has on the industry, then maybe they could be motivated. That won't happen though cause everyone is too afraid of the money they would be loosing. Ok so a bill get's paid late, it won't be the end of the world. What you fail to realize is that sooner or later your money won't be worth spit. I mean it's nearly worth less now.

Instead of worring about wages I'd worry about the price of fuel I have a dear friend that owns a station in the town I live in and I was complaning about the sudden rise in fuel prices in the last week or so and she told me to be prepared that it will be $5.00 a gal by spring! There is no reason for the increse other than make some Saudi rich or mabey they will blame it on the snow on the eastern part of the US this time. One stupid excuse after another but never a good or senceable reason to raise the price of fuel. to bad they couldn't use the excuse " WE ARE RAISING THE PRICE OF FUEL SO WE WILL BE ABLE TO RAISE THE FRIEGHT RATES" That will never happen. So I think that would be a place to start than negotiate.the rest of the reasons that we can all think up like black boxes, speedlimiters CVS 2010 wages and freight rates etc. California can live with there CARB laws the have dreamed up just don't go there let the produce rot in the fields I can haul produce from Fl.,Co.Ut.,Wa. and Az.

I will adress the above first. Not only do I think that Mexican trucks should stay in Mexico but Canadian trucks should stay in Canada along with their products. I was haulin cattle when the border was closed and it was great. Was never busier. I have nothing personal against the Mexicans or Canadian truckers. Shot the bull with some very nice Canucks. But I think it's best to stay in your own boarders. And do each and every Mexican truck driver read and speak english like they're supposed to? I'd bet not. There is a thread on here somewhere that lists some of the most dangerous carriers by the FMCSA. I believe there are 5 Mexican carriers. Why do I want them runnin here in America again?
I think imposing some standards would be good. Like, oh I don't know... A rate minimum of $1.75 a mile. That would be good. And I'm sure that it would be against free interprise or some crap. But why should we strike to get better rates and more fair treatment. They wanna regulate us to death so why not do something helpfull? Why? Why not? Would that be terrible? $.30 or $.35 as a mininum a mile for drivers. A $1.75 a loaded mile that would work. No? Cause as long as Swift, JB Hunt, CRST, Werner, ect are out there to under cut and ruin trucking. It will NEVER EVER get better. I pray for them just like in the song. :biggrin_255:

I can see nothing has changed over the years you still have those company drivers that don't want to stand up for what used to be the best industry in the nation. Where else can you go to work and have the freedom you have. I've been doing it all my life and I can remember when it used to be fun and every load was an adventure. I hauled freight for the company that came up with Pree Pass and was one of the trucks picked to test it and in the confrence we had to attend we were promised that it would never be used against the industry in the future,Guess what I just as soon go with out and spin that roulette wheel when I go through the scale be cause 600 miles down the road they can't go in to the Preepass records and find out what time i by passed the scale 600 miles away and give me a speeding ticket and a logbook violation. I've done all the sightseeing I want I'm in this to make money and it gets harder and harder every day to do that with out getting a violation.and company drivers all it takes is one steep fine and now you just hauled that load for nothing. It wouldn't take a month probably 5 days and someone would want to negotiate. But we would want to pick someone to be the one to negotiate like some one from OOIDA, Someone that knows how to do it not a truckdriver because truckdrivers can't even agree on which way the sun rises with out arguing about it.and we need to agree on the topics that need to be negotiated like our constatutional rights to start and then maybe fuel prices, freight rates, wages, road and fuel taxes, tolls etc. All a truck is now days to most states is a way to collect revenue fast with out an explaination. And a strike has to be carried out very profesionally not like in the 70's when my family and other drivers were trying to get the gov. to deregulate freight. The tv didn't show the reason just the violance that erupted and now days the way the media is we would be screwed and just get a worst opinion in the publics eye and now days they have a new word that their good at using its called terroists and every driver in the nation would be labled if it wasn't done in a profesional manner. It is something that needs to be done and has needed to be done for the last 30 years. So before the only trucks we see hauling our freight have licence plates from Mexico on them lets all stand united together and represent the best job and industry in the nation and try to get something done before its to late

We need more regulations ? All the time your Bit#hing about gvmt regs? :biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559:Give me a break !!
Strike for lower fuel cost ? Thats just as laughable!!:biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559:

The best thing for all drivers ( and most are scared of it) is CSA 2010!
If you want the pay to go up be the best driver out there and insist on more/longer training to get a CDL and strict enforcement of the laws/rules
The harder and longer it is to get a CDL the fewer will apply. Haven't you ever wondered why there are so many CDL mills out there? It's a quick cheap way to get a skill and make $$$ If you want to strike , strike for raising the bar on CDLs

How long should it take for an individual to get their CDL before they are considered ready to use it to get a job, 3 months, 6 months, 1year? Please advise on this.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

If a strike ever did occur, a lot of Mexicans would be used to replace the striking American truck drivers. A strike would only hurt the individual drivers, with nothing to show for it.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

Gotta keep this one for the records. . Lol

The whole country will know the issues and no, we all wont allow more of our hardworking people to be replaced by foreigner companies.. wanna see how far the gub-ment will get with that? Organize. I'm sure the american people wont let them get too far with that crap.

There's a lot of other industries wanting to strike, we're not the only ones getting riden by the obama admin..
