Why wait? If your not making what you want grow a pair and quit. Seems simple.

Why the need for the protection of the mob?Make your own decision.

And OOIDA filed the Landstar and England fleece purchase lawsuits and won them. Athey are the only ones representiing the driver in the Mn" driving fatigued" checklist. By the way they not only one that pasticular case for the member they helped file the suit, they uncovered the fact that for two years prior to that case Mn DOT was not even legal to be enforcing any FMCSA rules because no one had reauthorized them.

Guess who is thinking of filing a class action suit and seeking drivers who recieved citations in that time frame.

Did you know we had a bill set to remove left lane restrictions in parts of Virginia but could not get enough public (read driver ) support to lawmakers there and it has been voted down. No? Gee Landline Now (produced by OOIDA) and Landline magazine both reported it.

Do you know what legislation is up for votes in your state that could effect drivers? OOIDA members do.

$45 a year buys you an awful lot of information in my opinion. I even get text alerts for highway watch, legislative calls to action, daily email alerts about my senators and congressmen both state and federal.

It does not buy you a babysitter to negotiate your wage, but they will help members collect from brokers and file against their bond on a members behalf(actually you have to file but they walk you through it.)

Still a bargain in my book. Heck landline magazine has to be worth$ 45 a year just in info, member deals, and business advise for all drivers from taxes to equipment purchases.

But hey good luck with your strike. Some of us have obligations we intend to keep, and I for one will not be breaking my commitments because of your decisions.

LOL, again, u cannot get two truckers to agree on the price of a free cup of coffee.
And now you want us to all agree on something?
Hate to burst your ballon, a national shut down will never happen.

Good luck with that ! I won't hold my breath..Oh, that's right, I'm already in a union..Can't wait to see your "spokesman" for your strike..."Cat hat", big belt buckle, unwashed T shirt..Demands : "I wanna drive 80 and uh, I wanna that #### "guvmint" to stop telling us whut (and yes, I spelled that correctly-on purpose) to do cus trucking ain't a job, it's a lifestyle"....This should be good. I will wait diligently for April 1 and take a paid day off (hope it's a Monday or a Friday) in order to avoid all the chaos I'm sure will happen with this clarion call to action. And for all our "border brothers"...maybe you could interpret in Spanish..I mean, even those port drivers need love..

Me thinks a slowdown or shutdown may be sooner than we think, for those that remember the arab oil embargo in 73 you know what it was like.

With Egypt more than likely going to be controlled by the muslim brotherhoods, the ones that took credit for eliminating Anwar Sadat and Iraq, Iran, Lebanon, and all the other stans of the world, closing the noose on our necks and not to mention Israel.

If and when they decide to shutoff the pipeline of oil or raise the price to a rate no one can afford, the race is on.

If you understand anything about the koran and the muslims in general,, it is an honor for them to die for allah and to kill every infidel, they dont care if they die, its a ticket to the virgin land

So, watch the price of oil and see what happens at the pumps,, I remember long gas lines, be able to buy only 10 bucks of gas every other day, on the odd and even days,.

Gas stations closing because they had no gas to sell.

So, a strike may be the last thing to worry about, The more things change, the more they stay the same.

OOIDA/ Teamsters/ATA,,, they like the rest of us, will be up the river without a paddle.

I guess you weren't paying attention to the crude oil price index yesterday...within two hours of Mubarak "resigning"...price per barrel dropped 6 dollars!

Watch out chicken little...the sky is falling...the sky is falling!

Every company, just like every Union has "prearranged" statements all set for publication debating any side of any and all issues with regard to their ideology. I don't need to challenge Mr. Johnston on an issue that has been in the forefront with OOIDA for over 15 years (to my knowledge)...

A "Union"...which technically OOIDA is....won't step up and take the action, but will "give you directions" on how to handle your problem. As one poster said...."You have to file it yourself."...what does this "representation" require for them to get on the game(?) simple answer...a big cut of the pie!

I have seen 5 or six cases listed on this thread that OOIDA has "won" "for the drivers"....when in actuality there are thousands of cases filed every year,(not by OOIDA, but by drivers) in many states at both OSHA and civil and criminal courts. 6 out of thousands....fantastic percentage there! In the England and the Landstar case..."truckerjustice" was equally involved in the suit along with ONE attorney on the OOIDA front. Truckerjustice was preparing 6 separate briefs for OSHA Administrative Review Board due in court by Jan 12 - 16, along with 4 Federal class action cases, and a group (unknown #) of civil private cases....all against mega carriers! And truckerjustice does not need upfront retainers...they go right to work on the driver case!

As for the "information" in the OOIDA publication...internet is a wonderful tool...everything they put in the publication is public information and can be found with a little "search and seizure" by any trucker or truckers wife...at no cost to get the information.

O/O's won't have to worry about shutting down for a strike. EOBR's and big companies will push many out.

Just like the 1981 Air Traffic Controller strike. You will get a choice, go back to work or be fired and replaced. Whatcha think these .28 cpm drivers are going to do?

This Is why people in America are woosies. They are afraid to stand up and fight! So what if you are living paycheck to paycheck! Grow some balls and stand up for what you know is right.

Maybe if you did this you may someday not be living paycheck to paycheck. Truck drivers are the lowest paid people. You spend weeks without being home and go through so much ######## for what? Around $600 to $800 a week.

After food and expenses out on the road you even make less than this. I am sure there are some drivers who make what they should but the majority are just barely surviving.

Hey I am living paycheck to paycheck and I would surely park this truck for a few days. I am willing to take the chance and stand up for our rights to better pay and better working conditions.

I only plan on driving OTR for one year then its off to a local job. No way in hell I will work for peanuts and just barely survive being OTR.

You cannot compare Egypt to America because people in Egypt rose up when needed and are a hell of a lot poorer than any truck driver here. People in America will just sit and complain rather than take a stand.
