I make good money, I'm treated fair, I have nothing to strike against. Maybe for lower prices at the buffet...

sheeet....
I been on strike for the last week. I thought it was this year....... -
Going on strike to get the attention of your employer has a negative effect on those who rely on your employer indirectly. It does more harm than good, and would lower standards of living for others.
Going on strike for political reasons is pointless; you'd be better off putting your efforts towards getting political candidates who favor your cause elected. If it means that much to you, run for the office yourself.
Just my two cents. -
I've largely been on strike since 2008. Would you like to know what's changed in my life? Let's see, I lost my car to repossession, wound up working two absolutely crap-tastic "trucking" jobs for companies local to my area, joined Covenant (Gods help me!) for about three months of sitting around with my thumb up my bum, and am now looking at having to drop out of college because I can no longer afford the tuition thanks to the annual tuition hikes. Yeah, being "on strike" has really improved my life let me tell you what. And now, I can't even afford to take the refresher course that will let me back into the industry with a job that would at least provide a weekly paycheck.
A strike is useless. Let's ignore the fact that the Department of Homeland (in)Security will move to shut down any attempted strike (shutting down the American economy is an act of domestic terrorism). Do you have any idea how long it would take the larger companies to restart operations should thier entire fleet decide to shut down for a strike? A matter of days at most. With so many drivers sitting on the sidelines theses days begging for work, strikers would find themselves replaced so fast it would be ridiculous!
Plus, never forget the fleets of Mexicans waiting just south of the border for an excuse to move in and start hauling American freight. I know for a fact that Werner Enterprises has a Mexican fleet, and I'm sure they are not the only company to have one.
So you go ahead and strike. Tell me how it works out for you. Maybe afterwards you can give me tips on how to find a job with no skills (outside of driving) and schedule limitations. I won't take them, but you can give them anyway. -
