Yes indeed I will, children will go hungry and people will be like zombies at grocery stores. Well in the movies.

It's my opinion that enough people will keep driving and there are also plenty of people who will work for even less. You're more likely to lose your job than you are to gain anything.

    DrtyDiesel and aiwiron Thank this.

If you could just get one driver for every time this subject has been discussed to go along with it....

First & lastly, it will never happen. It won't happen for a million different reasons cause every driver has a different situation. Not all drivers are unhappy so, you know those aren't going to shut down... again & again... on & on.

However, in direct response to your OP, "one day" will never, ever work..... especially with a year to plan. Uh, a year for the employers to plan that is. Just as you have a year to organize, so do the employers. One day? No, one day won't affect not one ounce of freight with a year to plan.

The only way anything similar will work is for something to happen that involves a national situation that will allow the drivers to come together over a day or two & completely shut down, until the situation is resolved... even if its a month. And, I can assure you, that will never happen because there are too many variables in the trucking industry. With company drivers, O/O, government drivers, military drivers, contract drivers... I could go on & on. Not everyone would be able to shut down even in a crisis situation like it was back in the 70's during the oil embargo of the Carter administration & hundreds of O/O drove their bobtail tractors to DC to complain. The only thing that happened was... they lost time & money. It did not change not one thing.

Of the hundreds of drivers that participated in that strike/walkout, there was still millions of trucks out there hauling freight.

I agree we should strike, some of these truckers think there being treated fairly. There are many topics to STRIKE about that these guys are not aware of. Some of the topics are below so you can educate yourself about the trucking industry and whats going to happen in the future. All of these impact your bottom line.

    1) low paying companies - a decent wage, not a slave wage.
    2) FMCSA - Hours of service changes rules, EOBR mandates,
    3) high fuel prices
    4) low speeds in CA, OR, WA

Ya All do realize that it would only take a 96 hour nationwide shut down to make it bad, it does not have to be weeks.

Funny, I looked outside and its looks like Autumn, not Spring. Don't we normally discuss the futility of a Strike in the Spring?

Ah, Springtime. A time when a young individual's mind turns to the matters of the heart (and lower organs), and a Trucker's mind turns to thoughts of a strike....

when cops have a grievance, they dont strike, its against the law, they merely go by the book

i have always believed that instead of striking, do EVERYTHING 100% LEGAL

45 min pretrips, every minute you are with that truck is on-duty, not driving, cleaning out the truck, trailer, waiting for a load, waiting to unload, etc, all of it

your 70hr clock will be eaten up within 4 days, which is just as good as any strike, and more effective and legal
