All good ideas but the trucks spread out on the road with limited ability to communicate with each other puts a big burden on organizing. It takes smart people to challenge smart people. Let's face it, there are so many ___________ (fill in the blank) driving a quarter would get lost driving to the first meeting. Another quarter wouldn't care and expect someone else do the work and another quarter would say they have to pay bills and keep on working. I think we have bigger problems around the corner where many will be begging to have what we have now back.

I am not so certain a strike will happen as the financial burden would be the hindrance but if there was say just a one day rally in say DC with every trucker planning on shutting down just for that day and showing up to a Trucker's March on Washington; than maybe people would take notice. Of course, with the Internet, CB's, OOIDA and good ole TTR; the word could spread far in advance of whatever date would be decided.

Yeah I know, not every truck could get into washington but if everyone can remember Hands Across America; it would be the same thing. Like bumper to bumper cross America. Just each and every trucker pull over on the side of the road for that day. A long procession of discontent. Just my 2 cents..;)

A total shutdown won't happen, however, 100 trucks caravaning around Wash D.C. on and off the interstate at rush hour doing about 25 mph using all lanes will grab someone's attention. Then Atlanta/Houston/Chicago/L.A./Seattle etc. Or block some Wal-mart dc's access and hear the higher ups cry. The one I really like is when they "strike" in I believe France. They just park all the trucks on the main highways blocking all the lanes and walk away. No one moves for days until all the trucks are towed.

There's always a trucker's strike looming. I remember how it was "definitely" going to happen when they went from the 10/8 hours to the 11/10. I remember how, when a few drivers shut down on I5 in California, it was "definitely" going to sweep the nation. Honestly? I'd expect not only to see, but to successfully capture Bigfoot before I ever expect this strike to materialize.

I don't think it would take too much, you'd just need like 9 or 10 guys to do what that guy did in 1975.
Just all of these guys would have to agree to all shut down the highway in major metro areas all at the same time.

NYC, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, LA, Indy, Philly, St. Louis, Detroit. Couple that in with Laredo. GM, Ford and Chrysler would be sweating.

But the problem is that there are so many alternate routes now that it won't be much of a problem to get around the road block.

So on 2nd thought, maybe you'd need like 100 people to do it. And then when that gets taken care of and everyone has forgotten about it a couple of weeks later, have another 100 people do it. A 2nd time would make a bigger splash than the first.

These are all Valid Points but the so called strikes we all heard about from before didnt face what we are today. Alot of Chatter and i use that word loosely lol is due to the CSA, HOS and Elogs and Drivers Pay. We old hand have to remember there is a new Breed in Trucking and if they aint making money they are not happy and with the Internet being used the chances are better now then before. Like i posted im sure it wont happen but i would be behind it 110 Percent.

If there was ever a strike that was actually going to be planned and the drivers of the megas were going to shut down you can bet that both of my trucks would be parked. Id rather lose a weeks worth of pay and cost myself $1000 sitting and make a difference than miss out on something that would go down in history forever. I can see it now in big bold print on the front page "US TRUCKERS SHUT DOWN FOR A WEEK. GLOBAL ECONOMY NEARLY COLLAPSES" Oh yea its more than just the u.s. we shut down for a month (instead of a week) this world comes to a grinding hault. And FYI kinda hard for the national guard to get anything done when they aint got no fuel. Remember we haul their fuel for their trucks. They wouldnt be much help anyway. Id kill for a strike in trucking though this #### is getting out of hand and its obvious that congress dont give to ##### about us.
