Truck drivers have not recieved a pay increase in over 25 years, as a result we now work for less than half of what we did back then, isn't it time to demand pay increases by showing our overlords our true worth?
If we were to pull ove for only six hours the whole country would come to a hault, isn't time we act together and stand up like men in a united effort to demand more for ourselves and our families?

Gee , what an original thread. Can't wait to see the replies. I wonder why nobody else ever thought of this.

Are you being sarcastic, I hope not, we could shut down the Toyoya plant in Georgetown, not to mention Walmart in a matter of hours, we are the moving warehouses getting paid a pittance... did you know that the Walton (Walmart) family fortune exceeds 120 billion dollars? This is the largest fortune inAmerica...

Are you a company driver with a carrier contracted to WalMart or Toyota? How long do you think you would keep your job jeopardizing the contract? I'd love to see your DAC report.

My DAC is clean, my point is if everyone were to pull over at the same time we might get a favorable response, they can't hire 3-4 million truck drivers overnight, but I can tell you're comfortable with your situation in life, you may not even drive anymore with 12,000 posts, please stand aside don't gum up the works, change takes courage.

O.K. , I'll stand aside and watch CNN for news of the shutdown.Don't hold your breath. The majority of drivers didn't choose to "work for a pittance". They are well paid and have a good relationship with their employers and shippers. They aren't going to damage that relationship to support drivers that made a poor choice of employer.

Did you know that Walmart pays their drivers one of the best wages in the industry? They get paid for everything they do, including sleeping in the truck. If you had the solidarity to make a strike work, you'd already have the solidarity to demand higher wages in the first place. The labor market will adjust to supply and demand. Currently there is a more than sufficient supply of drivers and new drivers, driving wages lower. During the boom of 2003-07, wages were greatly increasing as demand was up. I paid .38 per mile and it was hard to find a driver in FL. If I put out the same ads that I put out in '06, instead of 3 applications, I'd have 30. I'd suggest the OP take some micro/macro economics classes.

I just heard on the radio today that each walmart costs the community it is in around $900,000 yearly in assistance to the low wage workers.

OP you must not have even the slightest clue on how a strike works, what it takes, and what it costs those that do strike.
