Back in the day when I started driving my first OTR job in '78 was a union outfit, I had to join the Teamsters and there were strikes back then and there was a lot of gun fire involved, things being thrown off of bridges, ya I learned real quick to watch the overpasses and keep my ear to the ground about were the gun fire was and so fourth. Guess what, It did not change a #### thing, nobody stuck together, another strike in the early '80's after deregulation and guess what, companies would not stick together along with the drivers and as a matter of fact all the union's gave in to the companies demands and a " Me To " clause was formed so all unionized carriers could get into the Master Freight agreement, it's called self survival. Tony is right, the only way that you will change anything out here is through voting and starting at the bottom and work your way up to the top. Why don't you try to get all the drivers to vote out here and see how far you get, not going to happen, and you think you can get all the drivers out here to park there trucks??????

The Truckers Ride for the Constitution is what it is called now. I DO NOT THINK THAT IT IS A GOOD IDEA.

First, the organizers of this are USING us for their political strategies. i don't like being used.

Second, Shutting down roads and cities will not only make truck drivers look like thugs, but will also create an environment where people may die while trying to get emergency services.

Third, Everyone in DC has gone home for the weekend, so there will be no congressmen or obama admin people there. You will only be affecting the citizens that live and work in that city.

If you want to raise awareness for the Constitution, have rallies at truckstops, get 4 wheelers to support us by putting "Ride for the Constitution" in their rear window. Ask supporters to post signs on overpasses. Even get everyone to honk their horns when they pass a government vehicle throughout the weekend. A message can be sent without shutting down the supply network (that will only hurt citizens, not politicians) or blocking the roads. IT SHOULD BE ABOUT OUR GOVERNMENT NOT LISTENING TO "WE THE PEOPLE". It should NOT be about our wages or other industry problems. Save that for another day.

That whole thing has turned into a redneck roundup with a bunch of racist "impeach obama" hillbillies making us all look like idiots. I saw the woman on TV (dont remember her name) who is organizing this deal, she went on about "obama is ruinin' this country, we need to kick him out".... Ugh! Yeah, thats what we need, Joe Biden as President for 3 years.

Im all for protesting government overreach and low wages. But this deal has turned into a tantrum, people saying "impeach the president" but not thinking about any consequences of that or any options, answers, or the optics of a bunch of truck drivers plugging up streets causing problems for people.

Seems there are many that do not know how the government works or how the economy works.

As long as dumbed down, needy, desperate future drivers are willing to work for $5.00 an hour, there will never be any changes...

This is a ''driver'' issue.I have seen many drivers allowing themselves to be pushed, abused, pissed on,lied to and still get in the truck in drive, out of total desperation..

If drivers would have some self respect, integrity and some love for themselves they would never have these ''issues''..

I for one will NEVER TOLERATE what i see drivers put up with.I myself would be in Prison if someone treated me in such a way.But these Modern Cowboys put up with all this crap..

So,who is to BLAME......The drivers did this to themselves and continue to do it to themselves...

I say often,Grow a Set and stand your ground...I did and i will continue to stand my ground..

I am in total agreement. The stated goal needs to be one thing and that one thing needs to be trucker specific ie. The 34 hour restart. All this crap about impeach Obama and stuff just lessens the impact. As well as any support from the general public.
