Trucking USED to be a carrer that people would dream about doing.

Now it is a LAST RESORT OPTION for people who are desperately trying to survive in today's abymsal economic times.

Trucking went from a DREAM JOB to a NIGHTMARE OF INDENTURED SERVITUDE!!!

I AM GLAD I GOT OUT OF THE PRISON CELL, I MEAN TRUCK, 3 YEARS AGO!!!

And don't say I am just another whiner that couldn't hack it and quit before the first year. My first commericial driving job was in 1988 when all you needed to drive a tractor-trailer was a "chaffeur's endorsement"!!!

Ladies and Gentlemen, my advice is simple!

GET OUT NOW! IT IS ONLY GOING TO GET WORSE!!!

THE GOOBERMINT WILL NOT STOP LEGISLATING TRUCK DRIVERS UNTIL THEY REALIZE THERE IS NO MORE MONEY LEFT!!!

Wow someone is very bitter today!!!

Now lets analyze your feelings, lie down on the couch and tell me about your childhood? Did your parents love you?

Seriously why are you trying to generate a strike? For what earthly reasons have you concluded that in your 4 years of being a Driver that you know best? And your will must be obeyed?

Back in 1925 there was a man whom had the same desires as you express, the out come is well documented. Perhaps a little research will get you to look at things differently.

BTW; The introduction of Unions during the industrial revolution was indeed a good thing which saved lives and generated a better standard of living. However nowadays Unions have past their prime and there only interest is in themselves.
I you have a grievance with you employer try talking to them in an adult non aggravating manner. Nothing is certain, but you will have been heard. Or you could simply hang up the big steering wheel and go back to the aggressive art of nail banging...

Oh dear look at that, doesn't time fly? Lets meet again next week, Hows 9 am on Tuesday? In the mean time take the blue pills with a glass of CHILL-ed water. That will be $450 ..... We take Cash, Visa or MasterCard..
Have a nice day, and close the door on your way out, there's a good chap...

Smart move dave.I was at a Petro Last night and i thought i was at a Homeless Shelter. There were people with green hair and pink sweat pants.I seen guys wearing Pajamas and flip flops and people that looked like they belonged in a State Hospital..It was sad and pathetic to see the looks of these so called ''professionals''...

I too started with the Chauffers and have seen this turn into a Refuge Camp on Wheels for the homeless and desperation....

You have seen all along what BIG BROTHER WANTED since DE-REG....They finally got what they wanted...

    CHEAP LABOR.....

Funny but true Dave...... Irony here is the MC's don't get it. Wages drive the quality of what walks in your door and what type of performance you get.

You get what your paid for is not just some words....it's proven everyday in the market place.

i don't see a truck driver union here at the AFL page...those airplane guys have one ...nurses do to

Heard someone say that the current administration would consider it terrorism if trucks stopped the flow of the country with any kind of shut down or strike.

There was what seemed to be a brief movement to organize in Amarillo,Tx some time back...it vanished as quickly as it popped up.

I am going to answer your post like this. You can decide what you want to do for yourself. It,s that simple. You may have to move where you can choose what you want out of it. You get some EXPERIANCE and go from there. Do I want to work local or OTR . do I want to get paid hourly. Do I want to join a union. Do I not want to join a union. Do I want to haul gas and oil. Whatever. Decide whats in "YOUR BEST INTEREST" and just take the nessary steps to put you in the job situation that suits you. Trucking is not one size fits all. There a ALOT of choices.

All you got to do is shut off 2/3 or more of the meat hauling out of TX and Kansas, and 80% of the produce out of California for 9 days and you'll get all of the attention you want. It may not be good attention but you'll get someone's attention. Problem is a lot of guys hauling the meat with the smaller and mid size carriers (JBS, Helwig, etc) have some of the best OTR jobs available today so I don't know how that's going to work out. Not entering (and thus not leaving) the state of California for 15 days would probably get have the most beneficial impact as that would high lite a bigger problem then federal logging and overall poor pay issues ... California is a HUGE part of the bigger problems the trucking industry is dealing with today, overall and I think it would be pretty easy to get drivers en masse to simply say "No" to any/all loads going into CA for a good while. There aren't enough CA based trucks and train traffic to handle the job on their own. They'd enjoy the high rates going out and going back in during a CA strike, but the nation's grocers and restaurants would still suffer greatly, along with the big box retailers.
