That is why nothing can get done.....We can't organize a strike because all you scared drivers piss and moan why it can't be done.
Shut the ###### up ! If you would put your piss and moan energy into something that is organized maybe We could get something done.
You let yourselves get screwed because you do nothing about it and until you speak up , No one will hear you.
There is not enough bodies to put behind the wheel of the big companies trucks to cover everything that has to be moved in this country!
STRIKE NOW !!! If you got the guts.

Even if it is only a handful of O/O going to DC. The important point is to get it on the news, on social media, get people talking more about it.......it may be a small action, but we need the word to spread. The next protest might get more drivers involved and so on.
mje Thanks this. -
I think your right on with everything you said...IF YOU EVER RUN FOR OFFICE I WILL VOTE FOR YOU

Ah, I see someone had a bad day.
I haven't been a member for too long here, but I've been around trucks for 30 years. While there are some really really crappy companies out there that don't pay for piddle, not all "truckers" are underpaid, unkept, slobbish, etc. There are actually some pretty good jobs out there depending on what kind of job you want. Some drivers like the physical work so they go into flatbed, construction, end dump or food service, etc. Some prefer getting out OTR for a few weeks or whatever, and in each case you can make pretty good money if you want.
Much like any other job, it's about what you put in. I can vouch for knowing drivers in just about any of those industries making 70-90K a year (not too shabby if you ask me) for 50-60 hour work weeks (not the "required 70" you speak of). If you can get into a non-union company (so you're not paying dues out of pocket) that pays hourly, and work a few years (most of them cap your wage increases at a certain point, or cap the position and offer incentives) you can hit the seniority wage cap and make $40 an hour on OT pretty easily.
Sounds to me like you either worked for a really schitty carrier, in which case you just needed to change jobs, or you didn't like the job itself and you're trying to drag everyone else into your misery.mje Thanks this. -
Don't you get it. It's not just about wages. It's about all the government over regulation too.

Seems to me those who complain the most are company drivers!! So why do you want the owners operators to go to DC for you??
And you call everyone against a strike gutless... Give it a break do your own dirty work....Last edited: Sep 22, 2013

No, you can't move domestic trucking overseas, but you can dumb down the trade and the labor pool to a point any monkey with the need for $500 week can get a job trucking cross country ... wait .... Don't worry, soon there will be a whole bunch of new workers available and hungry.
If you've got a problem with Washington moving away from the constitution, deal with that at the ballot box and in the months leading up to elections and do your part to educate the uninformed voters in any way you can.mje Thanks this. -

Anybody can make excuses as to why NOT to take action. And many do. It's too easy to be lazy and sit on your ### and #####. Nothing ventured nothing gained. I don't think I can sit and do nothing anymore. For those with their heads in the sand, this thing is getting worldwide support. I know this is not perfect but it is an attempt to better a bad situation.
fr8te_sh8ker and mje Thank this.
