    The problem with that analogy is we haven't had a free cup of coffee in almost 20 years. Let's include that in the strike. :)

    What about those that do not even drink coffee?

    Why should my strike only benefit those that do?

    You know, in all my years of hearing about strikes, "blue flus", million truck marches on DC and such that we all know will never happen and even if by some odd miracle a whole bunch of drivers did (reference Working Class Patriot's absolutely spot on post - only thing I ever saw actually happen was blue flu shut downs and clog ups by port haulers at certain ports that got busted up by the cops pretty quickly) the government would mobilize state militia to take over and keep things moving under Taft Harley Act and we'd move our loads or go to jail;

    This idea actually sounds the most viable. We wouldn't be subject to "move it or go to jail" under Taft Hartley (I mean we wouldn't be on strike; we would actually doing our jobs, just doing it 100% strictly legal , by the book). However, I'm still mega-doubtful and reference Patriot's totally true post.

    But of all the ideas I've heard for a slow down in protest; this one actually makes the most sense. If only it wouldn't cost me a bunch of money doing it. I mean ethics and taking a stand are all well and good, but I still got rent and car payments etc. It's real tough to take that stand when it might cost me my basic needs for my family being met. It's tough being a driver, but it is what it is. SIGH.

    AND - if you use your rewards cards right you do get free coffee. Last vestige of a trucker perk (get it "perk" - percolated; booo! bad pun). We still get free coffee. Just gotta adapt to the new technological way of getting it by swiping a card. LOL.

    No. US truckers lack the stones, but they call it their "freedom" to have no boss of them.

    Also, in the same vein of "logging it 100% legal" to bring about serious change ... I don't know that many carrier's operations departments HAVE ANY IDEA how drivers help them almost daily as a matter of SOP by moving to the dock in the middle of a break without coming out of sleeper, not logging on duty time spent while actually performing driver work duties with the truck, load or customer, while in the middle of a 10 hour break or 70 hr restart.

    eLogs are "fudged" by most every driver multiple times each week in an effort to get the required break. Problem is, dispatch, operations, sales, and planners take this practice for granted and perhaps it's about time it stopped so as to really hi-lite the foolishness and the amount of loss productivity many of these HOS rules create. It's no secret drivers perform A LOT of duties that essentially go UN-compensated to benefit the carrier and/or the shipper/consignee, at mileage rates that really don't cut it for most, considering the realities of the job. But if you want this to change (working for peanuts), you're going to have to work inside the lines and with the power you have at your disposal as a driver with federal HOS rules that will be used against you if you ever screw up, hurt somebody, and it's found you (the carrier) were not "100% legal".

    They want it? Give them what they want. Log it 100% legal, 100% of the time and let the ramifications begin. You will see chaos at all levels of the transportation industry and goods commerce.

    If we could all put our pride to the side we could defeat and win and have whatever changes we want.....remember what they told us in class....WE ARE THE OPERATOR OF THAT TRUCK AND WE HAVE THE FINAL SAY SO....
