I hear and agree with what you're saying.ppl don't have to drive trks but ppl to have to eat and pay bills.Unfortunately this job is the most plentiful,More new drivers and students are coming into the industry then the veterans and don't have a clue what lies ahead financially. Its too bad so many are coming in droves in the industry.Im waiting for the day when drivers wake up and tell companies what they can do with their pay. You're lucky you have an employer that values everything you do.But unfortunately 90% of the companies don't value their drivers. Why do trucking companies have to pay so low at least pay them for work done on line 4.

3 days won't make a dent on DOT nor fmcsa. This would need to be for a minimum of a week. Nobody would sacrifice their jobs over "a chance" to change things back or forth to a better spot.

3 days could. When the servants of all these men and women in Congress start calling them on day 3 ######## because no food bet they get off their fat ##### and do something about it.

You have to consider that not "100%" of truckers would stop

Why are you worried about rates? Rates work themselves out and conform to each individual load/market/region, and most trucking companies are making good money the way things are so I can't understand the rate concern. if you don't like the rates as an O-O, either you need to get out of the business or you need to cut costs or increase your services and performance offering to justify higher rates, like every other business interest in a highly competitive industry.

The [automatic] detention pay might be valid. Force the carriers to pay the drivers, then it's up to the carrier if they want to press the issue for the reimbursement from the shipper or cut off the shipper. But realize this sort of talks only leads to further talk/need of mandatory EOBR across to validate the claims. Also, if you are going to mandate detention pay, don't you think it's only fair to mandate late penalties to the drivers?

You need to focus on aspects that affect ALL drivers whether they be company driver, independent contractor, lease operator, owner-operator, etc and this pretty much limits you to HOS rules and perhaps giving limited weekly over-hours allowances for no parking available scenarios, weather/traffic delays, unusually long fuel lines, etc.

Perhaps everybody ought to come up with a plan to take home time on the same date .. then there are those who are home every night to every few days that spend time off at home on regular basis.. as well s those that will not place themselves in the position.. period

Where do you people get that auto workers are a bunch of fast-food knuckle-draggers?? They're VERY skilled people, who have had to be trained to do the jobs they do, which are also very physically demanding. And when demand goes up, so does their hours, which means more work.

You'll always have those who will do anything to make a buck, even if it screws the group they're a member of.
