Truckers' Trucking Forum/Message Board - The Premiere Truck Driver Forum

Truckers Strike Forum We all hear of a trucker strike. Let's put all the trucker strike threads in here, please so they will more organized. What do YOU think of a trucker strike due to outrageous fuel prices? The April 1st strike fizzled as expected. $5/gal. or more MAY make truckers stand together...if even then.

Truck Standing Strong Together

After CALLING OOIDA, They will NOT send us / me or anyone on a truck shut down. I talked to a gal and informed her about what we as a trucking nation is planning.

She actually got irate with me and so I asked to speak to a manager!

After talking to the manager for 20 minutes about HOW, WHY,WHEN we plan on this SHUT DOWN I think I convinced her that It's only a matter of TIME and that ANYONE of us could pull it off at ANY given time.

She pointed out " You guys cant do it with out a Leader".
I told her EVERYONE on my Industry knows Each others NEEDS!
I your all's NEEDS and you all know Mine.

I told her there is not one brother on the road today that dont know his brothers needs. And ALL it would take is a line or a small little convoy of 15 TRUCKS to gain the respect and start this MASS " AIDS " epidemic.

To get this Pulled off we need to KEEP the TOPIC, on TOPIC and Stick together. PERIOD end of story!

THE shutdown CAN and WILL happen but we all need to get the BALLS to STAND STRONG and TALL together!

We share the ROAD, the LOAD, and the Moneys.... We need to SHARE and spread the WORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

STICK TOGETHER!!!!!!! MEAN it!!!!! When we are together in a PAC we can pass a STATE BOY at 80MPH and he not even Think about it!!!!!!! not with 18 -20 Trucks running at night!

THATS the KINDA BALLS we need to get on this issue! STICK to the point, KEEP FOCUSED and STAND TOGETHER!

Get the WE SHALL NOT BE MOVED mentality!

All the best,
WHOS ROLLING WITH ME TO PA, TUES!!!!!!
-Matthew Sr.

its time for a shut down. I just sent a email to OOIDA asking them when they were gonna stand up for us instead of having the GOV. tell them what to say and to quit going through our wallets while the ATA holds us down?

Leader

You should have pointed out to the supervisor at OOIDA that her wimp boss (President of OOIDA) is supposed to be one of our leaders. If the members of this forum could ever reach an agreement on anything the OOIDA would have no choice but to support it. If they didn't, it would be very easy start a membership cancellation campaign. This forum should have enough members to start its own association shouldn't it.

ooida isnt a union, theyre an association. theyre not going to tell anyone to strike. how does it benefit them? if there arent any owner operators / independent drivers, there isnt much need for the association.

theyre like that pro driver insurance, or hell even car insurance. you pay them, and if they can make money off of you in the long run, they might help you. otherwise you add to the coffers.

would the boy scouts of america tell its kids to stop being scouts because baseball cards are expensive? (i know it should be video games, noone cares that much about baseball anymore except congress.)

ooida does not care, just send them your membership fee and leave them alone.

This morning on my way to my first pickup I decided to feel out 19 about the strike aka shut down. Right at exit 32 on 75 in Michigan the Detroiter. some of you may know it.
Right away a guy starts in on me about how no one wants to hear my B.S. and that it is never gonna happen. I agured with this guy for about 5 minutes and got very discouraged. I will not get into it all. but later in the day i passed another truck stop at I 94 #167 thought I would bring it up again but this time it was much more positive. one guy said that some one was going around at the pilot and TA passing out flyers to strike on the 28 29 30th?
has any one heard of this.

As long as the OOIDA is getting money they won't care. Not a member myself. If the money stops you will have thier attention. Maybe that is what needs to happen. The main thing is to get an organization that has a strong voice, knows what is needed, and won't back down from the man.
