Truckers' Trucking Forum/Message Board - The Premiere Truck Driver Forum

Truckers Strike Forum We all hear of a trucker strike. Let's put all the trucker strike threads in here, please so they will more organized. What do YOU think of a trucker strike due to outrageous fuel prices? The April 1st strike fizzled as expected. $5/gal. or more MAY make truckers stand together...if even then.

If you were a CEO of a oil company you would be charging that and you know it! I know I probally would, money changes people! They have a monopoly and they know it. So until we can figure out a way to run our trucks off of water, we have to deal with it. Us truckers have a monopoly, its just so many of you cheap freight haulers screw the rest of us on hauling freight for what we deserve.

I was smart enough not to sign a contract that didn't have a clause for rising expenses. We need to face reality here, fuel prices are NEVER GOING TO GO BACK DOWN! Go over to Europe and see waht they are paying, WAY MORE THAN US!! We need to focus on making sure our freight rates that we charge (YES WE, WE ARE THE o/os WE SHOULDN"T LET ANYONE TELL US WHAT TO CHARGE!)

OK fine, we will quote a rate that we will haul for and still make a small profit, they tell us it's too high and that they have been getting the same loads hauled for $$$ cheaper and they continue calling until they find a company that will haul it for what they are willing to pay. We sit at home, NOT working but still PAYING the Insurance, Taxes, Heavy Highway Use, Plates, etc..... So we sit and pay and make nothing and the "other guy" is hauling cheap freight and completing the vicious circle. Thats a great idea..... charge more...... 99% of the companies won't PAY MORE knowing what they paid before the fuel price went sky high. If we don't band together in this we're screwed, understand? Like the cops and the military, we have a brotherhood, we NEED to stand BY each other for ALL of us in the future.

Raise our rates..... yep, that'll work out just dandy.

If you can't haul the freight to make a profit, then there isn't a demand for it. The bottom feeders and cheap freight haulers won't last much longer and they will be FORCED to pay the correct amount! We CAN"T give in and haul that CHEAP freight, we need to demand the correct cost and if they won't pay it go somewhere else.

And btw me raising my rates is working out just fine!

Yesterday near Pittsburgh truckers protested the high diesel prices by shutting down their trucks. Some drove their p/u's because they couldn't afford to drive their trucks.
Here's the news link:

There are people that don't drive trucks that are behind your efforts, more than you realize. Good Luck to all of you.

Thanks Hilltop

Nice article Seneca, good to see it's making news in lots of places. I love what the drivers are calling it, a Solidarity Shutdown. Something has got to give somewhere, whether or not a shutdown will do any good, I don't know, but I'm so tired of hearing these stupid women gripe about "those damned rude truck drivers, a monkey could do their job" I'd like to see one of those mall hopping, Mercedes driving, shop til you drop broads get into a rig and drive it to the stores to refill their precious retail shelves that they thrive on. They wouldn't have a freaking clue as to how to start the truck much less drive it in their $300.00 designer pumps.

Our boys in GA are taking real action, now in PA, there are several more in the wings over the next few weeks I see, lets hope that when the shelves go empty and the retail trail princesses can't shop that the husbands, who may or may not have power to help will take notice and do something. Sad thing is, I don't know if the gov't officials even realize that it's the TRUCKS that bring all the stuff they use on a daily basis from the Armani suits to the Polo aftershave, meanwhile the drivers are eating weenies and beanies and struggling to survive. The whole world has gone insane, without the daily necessities delivered by the truckers, it'll come crashing down around them, is this what it'll take to make them realize what they are doing?!?!? And if so, where do they get the cahonies to call US stupid? Pot.Kettle.Black

Signed,
FlatbedPetes Wife....... again.

Stick together, stay as long as you can

My name is Derrick a 15 year driver, also an abused driver, I wish I could be out there with you, These companies need to be brought to there knees, we do all the work and they get all the money.

And we can't forget the dispatcher they also are part of what hurts drivers with their lie's.
