It’s time for "ALL " truckers to get together and strike. The need is now, and not just for a few hours or days. If you want to make an impact, you need to take a vacation. Take at least 3 weeks.

Get together, pick a date 2 or 3 months from now so you can stock up. Make your last deliveries because “they” might try to lock you up for stealing whatever you’re hauling, and go home.

The people of this great nation will cause such an uproar, that the government can not and will not let it continue. They will have to step in and do something, and the only thing they can do is work with, (force), the oil companies to bring the price of fuel back down to where a driver can make a living.

Some will say that it will cause too much of a hardship on people. Prices on goods will soar. That is probably true in the short turn. But, in the long run, when the price at the pump starts to drop, the people will realize that the truckers are doing what needs to be done for all.

I do believe that the people of this great nation will stand behind a strike.

In the long run, everyone but the oil companies will reap the benefits, and they have already made billions of dollars profit per quarter for the past few years.

I do believe it’s time the people regained some control of their lives, and the only way to achieve that is to shut down the nation’s commerce. Over 65% of the goods sold are carried by truckers.

TRUCKERS HAVE THE POWER TO MAKE THINGS BETTER FOR ALL.

So, what about me, and, the little old lady down the street living on her pension? We are both invested in oil company stocks. If you get your wish and the government steps in and pulls the rug from under the same oil companies that me and her depend on to make profits, and, pay dividends we'll both get hurt financially.

It ain't about fuel prices. It's about rates. Freight rates, pay rates, and the rate of inflation are all gonna' have to swell a bit to dissolve, or dilute the increased cost of energy.

If you get the government involved the natural balance of the system will go helter-skelter. Let the market work it out.

Oh yeah! There are plenty of issues worth truckers gettin' fired up over, even to the point of striking. However, fuel cost ain't the prime issue some peeps make it out to be. For instance, if I could regularly charge $3.00 - $5.00 per mile (or more), paying $4.00 for a gallon of fuel wouldn't be nearly as painful. Then the cost of that fuel would be spread throughout the economy and not just shouldered by me, the poor ol' trucker.

Fix the system, don't just stick your finger in the dike (or elsewhere). Attacking those that are doing well isn't the answer, unless you are a Dimocrat, then it's always the answer.

It may be a joke to you, perhaps you might be a company driver or you would be just as happy being one and just let someone else decide for you while you just take orders, right?

Learn to stand up for what you believe in, it is this same lazy way of thinking that got things to where they are now.

I you have oil stock make sure that you have a good active portofolio manager that knows how to trade, in case you did not know your oil stock can make you monney even as the price of the stock goes down, let others make a living too, afterall if the whole market goes down what good are your stocks anyway.

Per mile rates can be raised like you said but inflation will follow, this was the reason for deregulation. I say all drivers who are affected by the price of fuel go on strike for at least a month now or loose our businesses all toguether by this same time next year when the price of diesel hits above $5.00/g, then I sure hope your stock broker is really good because it is only going downhill from there,,,,,just my 2 cents.

I am not a trucker, and I do know what it will do to prices. I for one will support a trucker strike for as long as it takes!

TRUCKERS HAVE THE POWER TO MAKE THINGS BETTER FOR ALL.

Amen Harley, I agree we need to shut down at least a month, no less that 3 weeks or until we make our point, then you can bet we will be heard. There is a lot of people out there who agree with us, not just truck drivers. Would it not be great for all trucks to shut down, then see 4wheelers follow?

Trucker Strike

Guys and gals, you are going about this wrong. A Trucker strike will only hurt the truckers and the consumer. It won't hurt the people that is causing the the high price of diesel. You have got to contact your US Senators and State Senators and make them fight for you. They have to help you. Pressure has to be put on the oil producing countries and a Trucker strike won't do that. A Trucker Strike will slow down the consumption of diesel and allow those same people to ship the diesel to China where they get twice as much and just bypass the US. That would probably be an answer to their prayers, being able to skip shipment to the US.

You have got to get organized, but not to strike. Surely someone can go to Washington and get an audience before the US Senate and explain what you feel. I know a lot of the messages here express that, but you have to let the US Government know that. I don't think they will be reading this board. It's not really that hard to make them listen to you; especially if you go there as a representative of the Truckers of the US.

Good luck,

Bobby Johnson

Something needs to be done

IM not a trucker, I run a parts business. I do have some really good friends and customers who are truckers. And what I am seeing is pain and hardship. I am seeing more and more companys go out of business because of fuel and rates. Fuel drives the economy. The feds can drop intrest rates all they wont but it will hardly affect us. When you have logging business which burn diesel in every piece of equipment they have cannot keep equipment going with fuel and the price of wood not going up anytime soon, people hurt. People need to realize everything they touch has been a truck in some point in time, and then they will be behind you guys. And of you have my full respect.

Trucker shutdown!!!

I am an independent owner from Houma, La. I have a small enterprise, as of 12:00 a.m. I have stopped my trucks from running and will posting banners for all too see. I live on a street that has a shipyard at the end, so hopefully it will get the word out that we are serious about the endeavor. I have been posting on different forums and on our local newspaper to let truckers know that people will stand behind them on this long road ahead of us all. We haul equipment for the oilfield companies so maybe we can get at the heart of the matter if more of us pull together down here. If we don't haul the equipment then the oilfield industry won't be able to work and they will feel the crunch that the nation is going through.
