| Truckers Strike Forum We all hear of a trucker strike. Let's put all the trucker strike threads in here, please so they will more organized. What do YOU think of a trucker strike due to outrageous fuel prices? The April 1st strike fizzled as expected. $5/gal. or more MAY make truckers stand together...if even then. |

| Please take this poll about a truckers' strike. I have been seeing a LOT of talk about such and even other truckers forums are spamming their members about a strike (really just to get them on their forum). I want to know the REAL sentiment out there amongst ALL, not just truckers! I won't spam you like other forums, just take this poll in here and we'll see what happens. What are your thoughts on a strike? Best ways to do it? Park trucks? Block freeways? Block other truckers? Use FORCE on truckers breaking strike? Block truck stops? Fight National Guard? Peacefully park trucks and don't move? Force a nationwide blockage? The ATA: American Trucking Association...BS (bunch of ######## to me are wanting speed limiters on trucks as a way to get the price down, they are NOT for truckers)! Are you willing to sacrifice for what you DEMAND? Is your family willing to sacrifice for a trucker strike? Do you have the NERVE to actually stand together and DO something instead of flap your gums? Let us hear what YOU think! | Well put! Perhaps you may lead. I don't see any "wise one"s that can rally the troops yet. If I breakdown in a lane coincidentally along side you, I'll pay the tow bill. |

| Actually I have NEVER supported a trucker strike before. BUT, this is getting bad now and I am just testing the waters to see where ALL want to go BEFORE I say I support one. OOIDA, ATA, Teamsters and the like are beholden to D.C. and will NOT be with you, you can bet on that. During the 70's, truckers had GUTS and did what they had to do. Truckers these days are scared little puppies...that's the problem. There were REAL men back then...now I don't see that. I NEVER do anything half-#####, and won't start now.

| Violence is not the answer. Neither is blocking roads, fuel pumps etc. Those are all union tactics. Nothing that myself or any of my friends think much of. A peaceful but vocal parking of the rigs is good. Put banners on your truck and park it where folks will see it and maybe ask questions. Rest areas, pull offs, truck stop parking lots, etc.

| I agree, Brickman, IF I supported one...that would be the way to go. We MUST have the public involved AND with us! PLUS, there costs of food, etc., will go down as well! So, they might be patient for a little bit...

| The gross over inflation of the price of fuel is going to further increase inflation across the board. Prisoner you are correct in your assumptions that prices of consumer goods are going up. I don't know how high, but they are going up.

| With over $3/gallon diesel...EVERYTHING will have to go up, it's simple. Milk will go to $7 per gallon and on and on. UNLESS truckers can bring down the diesel prices. So, the general public WILL benefit from a trucker strike. What we would have to be careful with is grocery store shelves...IF a mother cannot find food on the shelf for her little ankle-biter, she is not going to be a happy camper...and instead of blaming it on the government and oil companies, she will take it out on truckers as they are much more of an easy target. A trucker strike CANNOT and WILL NOT work without the public on your side! Do it wrong, and it would be a disaster.

| I agree with everything stated here. Brick, your totally correct, violence isn't the answer. A peaceful demonstration will get the word out much better than blocking services and hwys. Wise, you too are correct. We need the general public behind us. And our signs need to reflect that. If we just post about freight rates and fuel, they will not understand the impact. But if we project that we are attempting to keep consumer goods from over inflating, then I think that they will understand and back us. The news has been doing a good job of making a point to the public that the cost is passed on directly to THEM. But more people need to know. More people need to understand that trucking in this country, is the post that all the cogs run on.
