Truckers' Trucking Forum/Message Board - The Premiere Truck Driver Forum

Truckers Strike Forum We all hear of a trucker strike. Let's put all the trucker strike threads in here, please so they will more organized. What do YOU think of a trucker strike due to outrageous fuel prices? The April 1st strike fizzled as expected. $5/gal. or more MAY make truckers stand together...if even then.

Trucker Strike

How about that strike. The scoop around Western Pa, is the owner operators are going on strike tomorrow. When they had that strike in the 80's JB Hunt was one of the victims who had their tires slashed for not striking. We can't afford to strike, we are living paycheck to paycheck now. If it comes down to it, we may be headed for the picket lines too. We are not owner operators either. Personally the fuel prices are killing this country. Everyone is jacking up their prices, who can afford to live? My hubby, and son who is in the army, says we need a revolutionary war in this country...who knows where we are headed.

Oil Executives to Take Heat From Congress

This is just obscene! I for one hope that congress would grow a set and immediately end the big oil welfare going on here that IS NOT NEEDED. But they won't. Don't any body hold your breath for congress to grow a big enough set for that. The oil lobby and special interest groups will out weigh them doing any thing that is good for the general good of the people they were elected to represent.

Quote:
"These companies are defending billions of federal subsidies ... while reaping over a hundred billion dollars in profits in just the last year alone," complained Rep. Edward Markey, D-Mass., in previewing the hearing.
The lawmakers were scheduled to hear from top executives of Exxon Mobil Corp., Shell Oil Co., BP America Inc., Chevron Corp. and ConocoPhillips, which together earned about $123 billion last year because of soaring oil and gasoline prices.
Markey, chairman of the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming, said he wants to know why, with such profits, the oil industry is steadfastly fighting to keep $18 billion in tax breaks, stretched over 10 years.

I believe there should only be two demands:
1. Mandatory 100% pass through FSC to the 'TRUCK'
2.Mandatory 100% Full disclosure from Brokers and 10% cap on They're rates. They should never be allowed to hold over 50% of the rate for being the middleman.

Remember must have a demand and it must be simple...
Pass it along...
