Truckers' Trucking Forum/Message Board - The Premiere Truck Driver Forum

Truckers Strike Forum We all hear of a trucker strike. Let's put all the trucker strike threads in here, please so they will more organized. What do YOU think of a trucker strike due to outrageous fuel prices? The April 1st strike fizzled as expected. $5/gal. or more MAY make truckers stand together...if even then.

The point of a Strike is for all the trucks to be parked, well I don't think that will ever happen. And I don't think it should.
The rolling convoys are a great way to draw attention BUT all the trucks should be in the right lane with their 4 ways on. Not blocking other traffic. All that will do is piss off the general public, not what we want. We want them to be able to go past the convoy and look at all the trucks going slow and ask why. Not be up set by the rotten good for nothing no good truckers making me late.
That kind of a convoy will make the 5 pm news. That way the press will what to talk to the drivers to find out what the heck is going on.
Now instead of Crying about the cost of fuel, which will not come down no matter what we do. The gov. can not tell the Oil companys to charge us less, Nor will they lower the taxes on fuel. So where does that leave us you ask. Screwed
No just kidding. But heres what we have to do. 1. Stop loading cheep Broker loads. If you call about a load and the blood sucker only wants to pay less than $1.50 plus a FSC don't take the load. If everyone starts doing this they will be forced to pay a fair amount to get their loads moved.
2. When we are doing the news interviews we need to bring up the totaly unfair amount we are charged for tolls. And that the Gov. needs to put an end to all these states that want to turn the Interstates into toll roads.
3. Put a stop to the Mex. truckers.
4. Stop taking loads to California, CARB, has gone nuts.
Well I think you get the idea I could go on for hours.
I have all ways believed Lead Follow or get out of the way.
If a leader is needed to get something done, I volunteer but I need your help and backing to get this organized the right way. Or if there is someone else who is more qualified please step on up, and I will give you 100% support
Jake, Owner-Operator.
I SAY GO FOR IT WE NEED A LEADER.I AGREE WE NEED MORE CONVOYS WE NEED MORE NEWS COVERAGE. CNN HAD NOTHING ON THE STRIKE YESTERDAY AND NOTHING ON THE LOCAL STATIONS.WE NEED TO STEP THIS STRIKE UP.WE NEED ANOTHER LA SHUTDOWN.TAKE THE LEAD AND LETS GITTER DONE I GOT YOUR BACK.GOD BLESS

This is the exact mentality that lets the government get away with anything they want... Because they can. ever since the anti war protests of the 70's nobody in this country has had a spine to do anything.

I think the best thing I saw this week. and probably the only thing other people really took notice of is the dozen guys who stoped the stevenson in chicago monday. That was way sweet. that's what we need more of. I'd liek to buy those guys lunch when I meet them

Nope, it's NOT!!! It's the mentality that says act like a grown up but DO act. Act like juvenile deliquents and no one will even pay attention to you except to put you in jail.

There's a difference between stupid and making a difference.

So if we don't play nice they will take away our milk and cookies?

You see this is the exact reason I won't support a strike nor will a strike work. There are too many people ready and willing to take violence to get heard! That is not the way to do this, seriously grow up!

I guess if you were around in 1776 you would have said

"Lets just pay the British the taxes, it's no big deal"

So what can the general public do to help? I'm not a trucker, I'm not the wife of a trucker, and my mom ended her trucking days long before I was born. So with respect to all of you... what can a regular civi do to help?
