Important Truckers Forum Notice!

Truckers Strike Forum We all hear of a trucker strike. Let's put all the trucker strike threads in here, please so they will more organized. What do YOU think of a trucker strike due to outrageous fuel prices? The April 1st strike fizzled as expected. $5/gal. or more MAY make truckers stand together...if even then.

I do not follow propaganda. Nor do I support either party. I am independent and have a realistic viewpoint.

I do not feel that 5 years is unrealistic. As far as July to today, 2 months.

If you really want to get bitter about it, look into what administration stopped off shore drilling and the make up of the congress. Clue it was a Bush.
But there's no talk of building the refineries needed for all this oil .

You are correct. This is a huge issue which this current Congress is avoiding. I was one of 6 representatives which spoke with Sen. Sessions last April, and I personally pointed out this issue as well as a possible solution as to where they could be built without the environmentalist problem. Sen. Sessions drafted the American Energy Act of 2008 addressing all the issue we spoke out about, and the House full committee voted it down. There have been a few bills addressing fast tracking of new refinery permitting process, but none of these bills have passed either. This current congress has no intentions of bringing real solutions to America's energy crisis.

There is only one new refinery being attempted by Mr. McGuiness in Arizona. Permit was filed in 2003 and as of last summer he has spent 30 million dollars and has only now completed the EPA permit process. He still has federal, state and local permit processes to complete.

I am still a member of TACU and help as I can, but I can't just have someone put info up on the site or pass along information I do not know.

I passed along as much information as I had. I haven't called them to give them time to do what they can while they have the opportunity. I remember how chaotic and exhausting the last events were and I'm sure this one has even more going on since it's really a 3 day event instead of just one - like the previous ones. After the last run to DC, I think it took Mark 2 days to return all of the calls, even with the rest of us helping.

I believe they'll be back Friday and I'm sure they'll get info up on the site as soon as they have a chance to catch their breath. It sounded like their time was stuffed and I'm sure they're juggling things as fast as they can. No disrespect intended, but I hope you remember what the last trip to DC was like and have a little patience.
Sorry to hear about your physical situation. Hope all works out for you.

Regarding my memory of last April...I do remember very well. And I would figure that all involved would have learned certain lessons about that event. One of the key things which should be happening is the communication with the people being represented. If you remember correctly...I managed to get info out immediately about our activities when we were sponsoring your site presence. Communication is extremely critical and I know exactly how easy it is to maintain a php platform site. I'm extremely surprised y'all have not planned for this much needed activity on the site. Even before the event, there was no pertinent info regarding the representatives and senators being met with.

I'm only pointing out pertinent activity which should be occuring and it is not. My brother and I are being inundated with e-mails and phone calls, and I can't seem to understand why.

I don't want to see another stupid argument in a public thread, so please don't take that as my intent here. However, please don't complain about people calling you and JB asking for info about TACU. If you would remove our name from your site, as they had asked, and take down the pointers to your site claiming that it's the new TACU site, it would probably help cut down on the confusion. I honestly wish you every success in your attempts to improve the trucking industry, but since we parted ways, I don't think it's helpful to confuse people into thinking we're still one group.

They got home after midnight last night and most of them had to work today. They have lots of news to put up on the site and will get it done as soon as they have a chance. They are also in the middle of setting up the new office, so as usual, there's a lot on their plates.

As I said, the best course would be to direct any questions you get to one of the directors or committee members. That way we can make sure accurate information is being passed along.

I agree with no argueing. I can have a discussion about anything with anyone without becoming upset and making regretable statements. It's good to hear everyone has made their trip safe, and I look forward to seeing some info.

In regards to your statement implying we're doing something wrong...I will disagree with you. Your name is not on our site and the pointer you refer to clearly states the site it goes to. I alone am the person who created the internet presence y'all enjoy and have made no claims to what y'all have done with your internet presence, but the original website creation was a sub-domain of our site...created by me and that pointer has been around prior to the creation of your current site. I do ensure that people know it's our site they are visiting. The questions being directed to us is not out of confusion of who we are...it's because we have information constantly being updated. Current news and important legislative information is available on our site. The people contacting us are asking us if we know what's happening with y'all.

Finally...about accurate information being passed along...there is no information yet to pass along. I hope there is no implication of wrong doing on our part with this statement. We do direct individuals to go to your site and call the phone numbers listed. Most state they had already been to your site.

Once again, I look forward to reading exactly who y'all met with - what was discussed - and what was accomplished...the potential outcome from those meetings.
