Truckers' Trucking Forum/Message Board - The Premiere Truck Driver Forum

Truckers Strike Forum We all hear of a trucker strike. Let's put all the trucker strike threads in here, please so they will more organized. What do YOU think of a trucker strike due to outrageous fuel prices? The April 1st strike fizzled as expected. $5/gal. or more MAY make truckers stand together...if even then.

Saame here Brick. Not doing the company driver thing anymore, I'll be able to go where I want.. and California is on my 'no go' list. I hope everyone else follows suit, let them see the error of their ways.

We can laugh when the air quality in that state still sucks, even after we're all gone... And it will.

I'll let you all in a little secret that CARB doesn't want anyone to know......

California especially SO-CAL has always had......let me repeat......has always had air quality issues.

When the Spaniards explored the area, smoke from the fires of both the Chumash and the Gaberianos hung around the coastal valleys like the smog we see every now and then....especially during what is called an inversion layer.

An inversion layer is basically cooler air sitting on top of a warmer layer of air...trapping in the warm air and the particulates as well...

In fact the Spaniards referred to San Gabriel Valley as the "Valley of smokes"......

Also remember that the L.A. Metro is in what is called a "Basin"...that is the area is surrounded by the Santa Monicas to the West......Angeles and San Bernardinos to the North and East......trapping everything until either onshore flow like the Santa Anas blow everything back out towards the Pacific...or a series of storms come in from the N/W and blow everything up and over the mountains.....

Anyone who has ever come down the S/B 15 at the Cajon on a summer day has seen that nice shade of brown hanging over the area......

Not all of that brown haze is from vehicle exhaust....The simple fact that the offshore winds carry dust and other particulates up to the mountains where it hangs over valleys....

CA is a very dirty and dusty place......especially in the Southern Valleys.....
