Truckers are thier own worst enemy

I'm sure that this thread will raise a lot of hackles!! Truckers are thier own worst enemy. There are about 3 million of us out there. Yet, we are treated like the red headed stepchild. The states, cities and towns pass laws like spit speed limits and Virginia's two hour parking limit in rest areas. that not for safety but designed to extort money from us.

The customers have no respect for our time. They think nothing of making a driver wait 3,4,7,10 hours to get loaded or unloaded. Some won't allow the diver to put SLC on the bills attempting to make the driver responsible for what they did or failed to do.

The companies are just sorry as hell. They go through drivers like #### through a goose!

Why? Because they know they can get away with it. They know that way too many of us will accecpt a #### sandwich and ask for another. Look on this site. How many warnings and stories from former drivers are posted here about these sorry companies? Yet there are still fools that will fill thier trucks!!

How many drivers are lumpimg loads for $40 a trrailer when that same company would pay a lumper $200-$300 for the same load?

How many places like walmart deny parking to big trucks because of the trash and urine filled bottles strewn around by drivers?

How many places won't even let drivers use the restroom because of the way drivers pee all pver the toilet seats and the floor, rub #### on the walls, write on the walls and just destroy the damm place?

How many drivers are sweating or freezing to death in the truck because thier cheap ### company would not invest in APUs and just like ignorant slaves the drivers accept this treatment?

How many drivers look like they live in a dumpster? They smell like one as well! They trashed the truck. They have 2 pit bulls, a rotwieler and a kangaroo in the damm truck! With no regard to the owner of the truck or the welfare of those big dogs!

How many dumb ### drivers are worried about the color of another drivers skin and fail to realize that together we are strong and can get things done?

With AM/FM/XM Audio Books and the internet, and all the time in the world to listen. How many drivers are ignorant of the world around them. How many drivers have no damm clue of what is happening to this country, this industry and are dumber than a box of rocks?

Drivers are getting exactly what they deserve! They have money for the cherry machine but not the $25 for an OOIDA membership! Many can't walk acroos the parking lot but won't demand the truck stops put in some type of excersize room or have more healthy choices for foods. This is especially important when 60% + are diabetics!!!

Finally, how many drivers out there critisize other drivers with education When they are having an informative dicussion instead of listening and asking questions? Instead of learning something they scoff and call the guy Dr. Phil! Has if only the Jethro Bodines of the world drive trucks!!! They wear ignorance, arogance and stupidity as a badge of honor.

Drivers are getting what they deserve! They are thier own worst enemy!!!

This is not a complaint. This is a statement of facts! I intended to provoke thought and debate. Because the only people that can solve the problems in trucking is us. Both O/OPs and company drivers.

If you are a company driver, you work as directed.
If you are an O/O.... You do whatever it takes to make a profit and stay in business...

dammyyankee if you can solve truckings problems I`ll vote for you in the next election.I`ve more or less decided to ignore all that is happening around me because nothing is gonna change.Guess that makes me part of the problem but its a part I can live with.Alot of what is driving now couldn`t have bought a trucking job 20 years ago.Same as with any other profession.Times have changed.I had to change with them or go crazy.

I know what you mean. Look at he response I got to my post. Instead of a dialogue of how we might address these problems. I get "What is there to think about"? I thought that maybe in this forum I might find folks that might actually want to take action. One man can't solve these problems alone.It will take many of us working together.

Again, I give Truck drivers way too much credit. As my post stated.... Truck drivers are their own worst enemy.

Times have changed...in some ways for the better, in some ways for the worse.

Many drivers are their own worst enemy...and I don't have a clue as to how to solve the problems within the industry...unless you mean building places for us to park without getting tickets. (and that alone would be a great help to us all)

You won't get reasonable responses to an irrational post . Smart drivers don't have half the problems you mentioned . They don't mind waiting because they get detention time . The don't worry about lumpers because they don't haul loads that use them . WalMart bans trucks because WalMart was fined by the EPA for trucks idling on their lots . I idle all I want and my carrier pays for IdleAire . OOIDA is a waste of money . You proved it . They have been around for years and the same problems still exist in the industry . 60% + of drivers are diabetics ? You totally destroyed your credibility there .

Quite possibly it's 60% of the drivers who eat the ####....don't lift a finger to do anything other than open the doors to the trailer....and make a bee-line for the chips and soda fountain at the C stores.....

Driving is like any other profession...."It was better when my dad used to drive..."

One thing hasn't changed over the years in any profession....there's always whiners....
