A Strike that will work OR that will get real Attention

I had torn that page out but since O&S fired me in Dec and no one wants to hire old(er) drivers I had to glue it back in, as New Rising Fenix (the only company to hire me after looking for 6 months finally gave me a job)

I know we have to stand together but as the old saying goes "We can either stand together or sink together" came from somewhere and it's been proved before!

But, as I've already said,. it's the fear of loosing pay that scares everyone and loss of a job or truck even worse. But you said it and I said it earlier, They can only fire so many before they don't have the trucks hauling freight but holding down asphalt in their yards! It's in their benefit to follow along in "Nothing In Nothing Out" IF they are making money! It's a no brainer and even if a company has a dedicated run there, it behooves them to maybe have a breakdown or two. It's not as much of a loss as totally parking! I bet the shippers and cons might see the reasoning behind a strike and agree.

In the end, a strike that has vision and planning which produces results without loosing money for the people who move America and brings the voice back to those same people instead of the desk drivers is what we strive for! To many other people are putting their fingers in places where they have no need to be putting them, (Joan Claybrook and CRASH, MADD) The many companies taking to much of our hard earned money (big fuel, brokers, trucking companies and a few others) and it's time WE, THE DRIVERS got control back of whats wrong with America and our profession!

I like this plan, why not strike against washington dc and commifornia both at the same time?? that would hurt things real good and get the message across even better, or am i pipe dreaming on that??

They'd probably do what they did with the railroads. Claim the trucks provide a public service, outlaw strikes, and start fining companies a billion dollars per minute until they get their organic cookies delivered. The people in power are insane. They honestly believe they are above the law (they are) and they can do anything they want (they pretty much can).

Only because we have let them get to that point. We all sit back and complain about this or that but do nothing on our part to change it because we say oh thats not that big a deal until now it's so out of hand to the point where we really don't have anything we can do about.

Why have the past several called strikes not worked?

MONEY!

Too many of us out here are working on the thin edge of falling into bankruptcy and all of the negative effects that will have on our lives.

Everyone out there thinks that we have to "shut it all down" to have an effect.

Not so! And follow me on this.

This is what I call the nothing in nothing out plan and I've been preaching it for about 10 years. I wrote this on my My Space page 31 March 2008 and had a few hits and replies but never really thought to put it where more than my small circle of friends could see it or who would listen to me on the CB while I ran across I70 to NYC and back!

The Rollover plan to an effective truckers strike anywhere in the world!

The last week or so I keep hearing on the CB about a trucker strike. It’s getting to the point where I’m ROFLMAO because everyone keeps advertising on these sites at.

First off truckerssrtike isn’t the site! It’s about the strike in Miami from June 2004!
truckerstrike actually IS about calling for a strike BUT we ALL missed the boat on that one as the site was activated in September 2007 and called for a strike on January 3-8, 2008! OOPSIE! The site owner actually gave a lot of time notice for that but just putting a site up and not advertising it doesn’t do a hell of a lot of good! He put it up with a sad excuse of a "strike call" letter and didn’t even introduce himself! Who’s running this strike? Who’s going to tell Washington what we "want"? The CB Radio! LOL! And only now truckers are hitting that site and vowing true support for something already history! It’s almost like something out of Comedy Central!

Seriously people, get someone with the BRAINS to organize, the BRAINS to set the logistics up and the GIFT of GAB to talk to those forked tongued devils in DC! Without that you have nothing but a bunch of COMPLETELY broke truckers! And, NO RESULTS!


Even calling for a strike these days will spell the death of to many owner operators and lease purchase drivers. If they aren’t making any money now, how do you even think they’ll keep their heads above water if they DO shut down? They’re already running in the red and stopping will push them ALL into bankruptcy! No question about it. They aren’t teamsters that can draw a piddlin $100.00 a week strike pay (while their bosses keep eating!)! And if I understand one of the rumors on the CB they are the ones calling for the strike on the west coast! Go for it union!



Now THE PLAN:

I’ve been preaching this on the CB for about 10 years but no one listens and I bet this plan will work better than a total shut down.

Pull out that Rand McNally. Look at either Maryland or Virginia. See that Diamond shaped city called Washington, DC? That’s the nation’s capital. (Really, it is!) That’s where all of the rule makers live and a President lives. That’s where the TAXES come from! Where policy is hammered out.

Next, those of you with children in school, go get the protractor from their notebooks and set it so you can draw a circle that equals 100 miles from the center of that town.

Now, NOTHING in NOTHING out! PERIOD! It’s that simple. Nothing in, nothing out of the circle. PERIOD! Got it? NOTHING into the circle and NOTHING out of the circle! Nothing means NOTHING! NO FUEL, GAS, FOOD, LIQUOR (that’ll get their attention!) toilet paper, tampons, condoms, cigarettes, apples, oranges.

NOTHING means NOTHING!

This way everyone is still driving and paying the bills. Those drivers that live inside the circle can still work and get out side of the circle and when they go home stop and get the groceries to take home! Let the rest of DC starve and WALK to work! If they are local drivers we can go back to the way we used to be and help those drivers honoring the "Nothing Rule" with food and money to stay afloat until issues are resolved! And this means NOTHING IN and NOTHING OUT until the ink is dry on the orders satisfying our demands! None of that "the check is in the mail" #### either! Nothing in nothing out until it’s LAW!

I’ve had drivers tell me that they (congress) would get the National Guard to haul the freight in. Can’t happen as they don’t have the correct equipment or the funds to play trucking company!

After we get the attention of the rule makers and get what the COUNTRY needs such as NO FREAKIN TAX BREAKS FOR BIG OIL! They cleared HOW much each quarter? Yeah right! That’s the reason we’re paying this much for diesel! Also, add drilling our OWN oil in ANWAR! Screw the LIBERALS and Tree Huggers who won’t allow us access to our OWN oil! Do you want to be told you can’t drill for water on your OWN property? Keep pounding until HOS is fixed and DOT has a reality check and congress has figured out that we're not the morons portrayed by the press and movies, as if we can shut down the nations capitol what COULD we shut down that would really hurt?


Once we get THAT fixed, switch! Maybe look way west to California! Get THAT idiot state to get their ducks in a row!

Then, switch again to my favorite state of Ohio. Keep drawing the circles and stop going inside of them and we’ll finally get America back in line. Even these monster trucking companies can’t argue with this logic! Especially if their drivers can grow a pair to actually have a pair to tell dispatch "no, I won't go there!"



America WON’T stop, no one looses their trucks and homes, or lives!

And hopefully, the college educated politicians WILL get the message!

It’s so simple even a trucker can figure it out!

Anyway, that's the only way I can see this generation of truckers doing a strike. We keep moving freight, but not to the area that the ones we call "strike bosses" have called. No one looses their trucks, homes or lives and attention is drawn to the areas that WE know needs improvement in this industry! We have got to stop letting small groups like C.R.A.S.H. and M.A.D.D. tell the government what HAS to be done and have actual ex drivers make the laws! (Oh, well, THAT was a dumb idea!) What driver would want to live in THAT snake pit?!?)

Re; DonPissedOff, I've seen you over there on the JB post and wonder if you've having any luck sitting on their curb? Ah, a hint, turn off the caps lock as it's like yelling but it is hard to read when you have to wear bifocals! There is a nifty little program out there that will turn caps lock off if you Google ‘caps lock lock out program’ you can even turn it off in the registry! That is if you trust yourself to screw with something that deep in the programming!

It is a good idea, I know it'll work and as some one earlier said Washington DC should be the first town to hit (HINT: diamond shaped on VA and MD border! LOL) then just go from there. I would have said Ohio next to get rid or that ridiculous 55/65 but from what I hear that's no longer a problem. I won’t believe it till I see it and NO a pic won't prove anything to me with photo shop now! LOL.

Now those 3 states on the west coast still do that stupid 55/65 so pick one like CA! Or start at the top WA and go down hill from there. With CA as broke as they are maybe the Govenator will get a hint before we were to leave OR and make the change! I never could figure out why we're doing 55 in the freaking desert and on Fridays (off to the gambling halls traffic, everyone’s in a hurry to throw away their money traffic err race) going north on I-15. Heck, 75 is too darn slow! But, a 100 mile circle around a Capital city would work and let King Obama try to order us back to work! By the time he could "order" us back to work the damage is done as JIT cargo is now late and shelves will start to go bare! Besides who's afraid of King Obama? I'm not as he's NOT MY PRESIDENT until he proves it with that birth certificate! I live in Missouri so SHOW ME! And I still won't go into the strike area as I'm a private citizen and if I don't want to, screw him I ain't going! And no, the National Guard can't handle that job as they aren’t trained, set up for or have the equipment for that kind of mission, and no Obama can't force a company to turn over their trucks to the guard unless it was a NATIONAL emergency! The governor of the effected state possibly could but with most of the guard units over seas in the Middle East right now it won't fly and there is still the call up time to implementation so we still win as we have made our point. Now CA might be able to get the guard up faster as they will know that they would come after Oregon but as I said the guard isn't set up for what we do everyday!

Now, I might be able to work phones or even get out there with MY big mouth as I'm almost on the verge of loosing my CDL due to medical problems, as fighting cancer last summer and now some more problems I just might be able to actually go out with a bang! But that’s where a kitty or donations set up with a reputable company would come in but looking at the jars sitting on the fuel desks looking for donations, hoping for enough money to carry the "mouth pieces" over till the end of this parade we could be starting not to mention some kind of advertising (costs money). They will need to put 100% of their time in on this to make it work and no more of this stupid CB "Hey, lets have a strike next week" bull #### that has been going on and go for the whole shooting match!

Once the momentum has started this kind of snowball would be hard to stop, but you HAVE to have more than 1 person with a crapy arsed web page working 10 hours a day doing the same thing that old Joan Clayborn is doing with CRASH! And for you newbie’s Joan was Billy Carters head of the FHWA! This broad failed in her job telling Billy to do the 55 speed limit and she is a constant pain in trucking’s neck who is now pushing this stupid OBRD (on board recording devices) that will more than likely put a lot of O/O out of business, and take a ton of cash out of YOUR pockets if you forget to push the button before you do anything in that truck! This woman and organization needs to be stopped as nothing out of that office of CRASH has done anything to benefit trucking except to hinder us! But because they have the money they can do what they do! We have to rely on our circle for the money thus donations! I, and I know the rest of you don't work for free and I KNOW I can’t! It's up to all of us to talk this out at the dinner counters at the truck stops and CB (yeah right on the CB! Who uses it for anything else but to rag and complain or threaten each other on). Just copy and print the first post of this thread and pass it out with this URL at the bottom so those who are literate can access and post what they are hearing and see if it'll roll with the majority even the biggies (JB, Swift, Schneider ect)
