    No, that system rolled along the ground from east to west and built the wall cloud to the west of us. It was moving so fast that it was scary, then its like it hit a brick wall and started building up to the west.

    I grew up about 2 miles east of Nishny on the east side of I-29. There is a dirt road that runs along 29 where my grandparents lived. We watched them build 29 along that stretch.

    Those clouds are wicked looking. There were a couple areas up there that received 7" of rain between last night and this morning.

    Sheila, I was in Washington a couple of winters ago and saw something a great deal similar.. the old Indian man there refered to it as a "storm ring"... according to him, it means that the Devil is dancing..

    Yeah, we sat the night before up at squaw creek. My husband was annoyed that I could sleep in the truck through some of that storm. :biggrin_25523:

    Thats really interesting to know. Too bad we didn't stick around for the "final dance".

    Got some more today, up in Minneapolis.

    the first photo is a fluke by my camera. a morning sunrise over evansville in but the camera infareded somehow.

    second is a sunset i took at the now Love TS in Gary In

    third is one of the peaks near the area i took my vacation in Aug this year in South central Alaska

    last is a shot of some morning fog while going thru MI
