source for Interstate road conditions - future forecast, not current conditions

    I don't think it's so much as "leave with plenty of time cushion" as a routing decision. Cross country runners deal in days, rather then immediate hours, and have reasonable routing options if they make themselves privy to "systems" and opt to go around typical systems if the timing appears right. Forecasting 2-3 days out is not precise but it's "generally right" in the broader sense which is all you're dealing with when your deciding between 40-44-70-76 or 40-81, or 40-30-20-10 or 40-15, or similar alternate routes.

    yep, NOAA is the best for long term; they have best updated radar signature to avoid dangerous storm cells and tornadoes; Accuweather is ok also,; WeatherBug on my phone is good shows the ice/snow/rain combined with traffic speed;
    for short range road condition and navigation I use Google map, enable traffic watch color of traffic speed, and Waze;
