Weird Weather Stories

Hi All. Pretty new to the boards here but sure love checking things out. Anyways, I was talking to my hubby the other day while he was driving down I-80 in Wyoming. We were talking about how nice the weather was (he said it was 70 and sunny) when all of a sudden he reports that the temperature was dropping. In a matter of a couple minutes it went from 70-to 50-to 30-then back to 70. When the temp dropped it started hailing and ice was on the road. He hung up and when he called back said he had started to skid, but managed to hang tight. Thank God someone was looking out for him. Anyways, it made me think...there must be other stories where the weather took a sudden change. Just curious to what else has happened to people. Please share!

I've seen storms like that roll in and turn the air itself black as pitch. I still dunno what exactly causes it. I watched a storm roll in across the valley at night and all the lights disappeared as it came. The living room window I was looking through flexed in till it touched my nose. 100 miles further on that storm had near 200mph winds coming out of it and flattened an entire town.

I've seen lightning dancing out in Kansas that looked like an electric rainbow. That was pretty cool.

some of the lightning storms in E. Colorado and Central and Western Kansas can be damn entertaining. We used to load out of place outside Ulysses, KS. One night I rolled in there about 8pm, parked and was ready to hit the sleeper. As I was coming across US 50 I noticed a storm brewing to the So., it hit just as I crawled in the sleeper. The lightning was so intense, it flashes were visilble through my curtains, qtr. size hail, and rain that was so intense I thought it would wash me away. Next morning when the customer came in, the lady at the desk told me there were two tornado's in the next town over, and numerous lightning strikes.

I had to get up about 2am to move the truck one night. I was parked in a field in Nebraska and the hail sounded like it was going to shatter my windows. I had to remember where the road curved so I could put the load in between me and the wind since I couldn't see anything.
