Believe it or not!

We just had to sandbag the back door! I am not joking. The rain just came down so hard in the last 2 hours that my back courtyard is inundated! The water was less than 10" from the door going into my bedroom when we left to get sangbags. In the 20 minutes we were gone, it got within 2" of the door!! Damn, I gotta be getting old! I couldn't even roll those bags when WIlliam got done filling them! And he was tossing them like they were bags of FEATHERS!

Here's the posted warning!

Quote:
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN HANFORD CA HAS ISSUED AN

* URBAN AND SMALL STREAM FLOOD ADVISORY FOR MINOR FLOODING OF POOR
DRAINAGE AREAS IN...
FRESNO COUNTY IN CENTRAL CALIFORNIA...
THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF...FRESNO...CLOVIS...
EASTERN KINGS COUNTY IN CENTRAL CALIFORNIA...
THIS INCLUDES THE CITY OF HANFORD...
SOUTHWESTERN MADERA COUNTY IN CENTRAL CALIFORNIA...
THIS INCLUDES THE CITY OF MADERA...
SOUTHWESTERN MARIPOSA COUNTY IN CENTRAL CALIFORNIA...
EASTERN MERCED COUNTY IN CENTRAL CALIFORNIA...
THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF...MERCED...ATWATER...
WESTERN TULARE COUNTY IN CENTRAL CALIFORNIA...
THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF...VISALIA...TULARE...PORTERVILLE...

* UNTIL 1100 PM PDT

* AT 505 PM PDT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED
AREAS OF MODERATE TO HEAVY RAIN MOVING ACROSS THE EAST SIDE OF THE
SAN JOAQUIN VALLEY.

* ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF ONE-HALF INCH...LOCALLY UP TO ONE
INCH...ARE POSSIBLE IN THE ADVISORY AREA THROUGH 700 PM PDT.

MOST FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. NEVER DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO
AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. FLOOD WATERS ARE USUALLY
DEEPER THAN THEY APPEAR. JUST ONE FOOT OF FLOWING WATER IS POWERFUL
ENOUGH TO SWEEP VEHICLES OFF THE ROAD. WHEN ENCOUNTERING FLOODED
ROADS MAKE THE SMART CHOICE...TURN AROUND...DONT DROWN.

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CAUSE ELEVATED LEVELS ON
SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS...AND PONDING OF WATER IN URBAN AREAS...
HIGHWAYS...STREETS AND UNDERPASSES AS WELL AS OTHER POOR DRAINAGE
AREAS AND LOW LYING SPOTS.
Quote:
...FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH WEDNESDAY
MORNING...

THE FLASH FLOOD WATCH CONTINUES FOR

* PORTIONS OF CENTRAL CALIFORNIA...INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING
AREAS...MARIPOSA MADERA AND FRESNO COUNTY FOOTHILLS...TULARE
COUNTY FOOTHILLS...SIERRA NEVADA FROM YOSEMITE PARK SOUTH TO THE
KERN COUNTY LINE.

* THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING

* VERY HEAVY RAIN HAS OCCURRED OVER THE SIERRA NEVADA AND FOOTHILLS
AND IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING AS A STRONG
AND VERY MOIST PACIFIC STORM MOVES ACROSS THE REGION. RAINFALL
TOTALS WILL RANGE FROM 3 TO 5 INCHES IN THE FOOTHILLS...WITH AS
MUCH AS 7 INCHES AT ELEVATIONS ABOVE 4000 FEET.

* FLASH FLOODING AND DEBRIS FLOWS ARE POSSIBLE IN AND NEAR
BURN AREAS...SUCH AS THE BIG MEADOWS FIRE IN YOSEMITE PARK AND
THE POWER FIRE ALONG HIGHWAY 190 IN TULARE COUNTY. ALTHOUGH IT
HAS BEEN VERY DRY FOR A LENGTHY PERIOD OF TIME... EXCESSIVE
AMOUNTS OF RAIN OF THIS MAGNITUDE MAY PRODUCE FLOODING IN
LOCATIONS THAT NORMALLY DO NOT FLOOD DURING AN EARLY AUTUMN
RAINFALL.

* PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD
TO FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION
SHOULD FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS BE ISSUED.
