Bad One On Indiana Toll Road 7 Mar Driving on the Toll Road this Am, found it covered with snow, slippery as you can imagine, and the plows weren't out doing anything at that point. At about the 90 mile mark Eastbound, I decided I had enough and pulled in to the rest area, but found no place to safely park at 5 am. I drove 17 miles further and pulled into the truck parking are and shut down for a couple of hours until daylight and the plows had taken over. Back at the 90, there was a wreck. An eastbound truck crossed the median, into a car on the westbound side, and past that into the ditch. Based on where it was, I'd say the truck pulled over to yield to merging traffic out of the rest area, and lost control in the slippery left lane. He shot across and hit a car or possibly a pickup. I couldn't tell for sure. If it was a car and anyone was in the backseat, they had to have been killed. I'd rate the driver of the car's chances of surviving at no better than 1 in 10 at best. The trucker should have survived if belted in, but the truck was a right off, with the engine torn out and laying on the ground near the truck. I saw the wreckage when I came back through a couple of hours later. it just convinced me to listen to the little voice in my head that was telling me the roads were too bad to be out on. I pulled over, delivered a couple of hours late, but I delivered safely.

Update: Apparently, there was a second semi truck involved. It says in the local news that a tanker pulled out of the rest area, and blowing snow off the tanker caused a white out and the other truck rear ended the tanker before careening across the median and hitting the car. Both drivers survived, though both were hospitalized. (And it wasn't my tanker! I had been running and mine was clear of snow, and it happened well after I went through!)

Doesn't look like it CG, the accident you're referring to happened in Bryan,Ohio, near the indiana border. The accident Burky was telling us about was in Indiana.

You got that right, kinda spooky both accidents were so similar, and they happened only about 60 miles away from each other. (cue the Twilight Zone theme)

No, they both happened on Wed morning. The crews were out today clening up, since it looks like both of them had fuel spills involved. There were crews digging up the soil to remove any contaminated soil before the fuel can leach into the groundwater.
