Crash claims life of Hampton man

Crash claims life of Hampton man

VA
A 34-year-old Hampton man was killed when his car collided with a tractor trailer on Interstate 64 in Newport News Wednesday morning.
The collision happened around 2:15 a.m. when an 18-wheeler hit Daniel Edward Richey's 2005 Dodge Neon.
Virginia State Police spokesman Sgt. D.S. Carr said Richey failed to negotiate the curve on the entrance ramp from J, Clyde Morris Blvd. to eastbound I-64, traveled across two lanes on the interstate and then was struck on the driver's side by the rig.
Right after the crash, three lanes of the interstate were closed. By 6:30 a.m., crews had removed the vehicles and cleaned the debris, so traffic was once again moving in all lanes.
The truck driver wasn't hurt, Sgt. Carr added.
