Canyon crash leads to truck theft

Canyon crash leads to truck theft
4/6/07
Quote:
SPANISH FORK CANYON — An early morning crash Thursday in Spanish Fork Canyon left two men injured and another man possibly wondering the value of helping others.
At approximately 3:30 a.m. a white pickup truck traveling west on U.S. 6 crossed into eastbound lanes at mile marker 204. The truck ended up in the path of a semi-truck, sideswiping the semi from the front all the way down the side of the semi's trailer.

The driver of the pickup lost control and went off the road into the Spanish Fork River. Two individuals climbed out of the vehicle and up to the highway. A passerby also traveling west pulled over to help. The two injured men claimed there was a third injured person still in the vehicle in the river and while the passerby went down to help, the two jumped into his truck and left the scene.
According to Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Ted Tingey, an attempt to locate was issued and the stolen truck was stopped at mile marker 184.
Both injured men were transported by ambulance to Mountain View hospital in Payson. No charges have been filed but alcohol is a suspected factor in the crash.
