A tanker truck driver in Raleigh, NC, may be in a fair amount of hot water after his unattended truck rolled across a six-lane road early Tuesday morning, April 3, and crashed through the wall of a CVS drug store.
According to the Raleigh News & Observer, the trucker had parked at a Shell station and went inside. According to police, he allegedly left the truck in neutral and failed to set the brake.
No one was hurt in the incident, but police told the News & Observer there was an estimated damage of $20,000 to the truck and $100,000 to the store.

Ponder this, a few years ago I ran alot more miles without alot of sleep and this is one of the things I did to be sure that thiat kind of thing can't happen. Set your cruise to on and raise your idle up after you stop, this way you can be sure you will not forget setting the brakes,it is just a foolish thing I did but,it really double checks you,the idle won't raise up with the cruise unless the brakes are set when you are parked. The best thing is if you are in the sleeper and not sure, just reach ahead and try the idle up,then you can go to sleep without worrying about rolling off.

"WAR LOK" Air Brake Valve Anti-Theft Lock

Shaffer Trucking issued an anti-theft lock to all drivers that can only be locked when both vales are pulled...we have trucks/trailers borrowed from time to time without permission. I always lock my valves anytime I get out of the truck...even in the fuel island when blocked in by other trucks. It especially gives me great peace of mind when I'm in the sleeper.
