Trucker Escapes Serious Injury In Unusual Accident

TRUCKER ESCAPES SERIOUS INJURY IN UNUSUAL ACCIDENT

By on April 20,2007

A dump truck driver escaped serious injury Monday afternoon when a boom from a feed truck he was meeting on the roadway crashed through the windshield of his truck. The accident occurred at 1:35 p.m. Monday three miles south of Columbia on KY 55 when Mark Holt, 34, of Russell Springs, operating a 2000 Kenworth dump truck, was traveling south and a 1995 Dodge feed truck being operated by Coy Turner, Jr., 32, of Columbia, was traveling north when the feed boom on the truck dislodged from his truck, swung into the southbound lane and struck Holt’s dump truck in the windshield. The impact caused Holt to lose control of his vehicle.Holt was transported to Westlake Regional Hospital by the Adair County EMS, where he was treated and released. Turner was not injured. The accident was investigated by Trooper Nathan Cary.

Never seen this happen before. Just thought I would share this story from our local paper.

I saw the truck, it actually went through the side window and nearly tore the door off the truck. I don't know how the driver avoided any serious injuries.
