Deaths reported in Indiana highway crash

Deaths reported in Indiana highway crash
4/26/07
Quote:
BRISTOL, Ind. -- A multi-vehicle pileup killed at least six people Thursday on a rainy stretch of the Indiana Toll Road, Indiana State Police said.
It was raining when the crashes began around 6:45 a.m. in the westbound lanes, said State Police 1st Sgt. David Boehler. He said six people were confirmed dead and others had been injured.
The crash site was about a mile east of Bristol near a bridge construction site at the St. Joseph River, said Bristol Police Chief Mike Swallow. Cars and trucks were involved in the pileup, which left westbound lanes closed about 40 miles west of the Ohio State line.
Further details were not immediately available.

When they are referring to another accident happened last year, is this where the Taylor University accident happened? Does anyone know? I am just curious

This isn't where that happened, but it has been lumped into the story.

Those crashes, plus two involving semitrailers on Interstate 69 -- one a year ago that killed four Taylor University students and a staff member and one April 19 that killed the daughter of state Sen. Timothy Skinner -- prompted a call for action from state lawmakers Thursday.

Ok same interstate not same area. OK I was curious as I am waiting for that trial to unfold. I try to stay on top of that one because of the "log" issue. Cybergal comes in handy there

Not the same interstate. The Taylor accident happened down on 74 below Indy. This one was westbound on 1-80 at the 100-101 mile mark where they are rebuilding a bridge. There was a 5 person fatal last year at the other end of this construction zone heading East. Despite what Indiana DOT claims, they have a bad habit of setting up the merges in a construction zone just after a bridge or overpass. The one last year happened when traffic stopped on the east side of a bridge, truck came along and couldn't stop in time. He hit a minivan and it burned. driver of the truck was killed as well.
